Exclamation 1st gen brake question.

In 1985, Mazda made 4 rx7's. G, GS, GSL, and GSL-SE. I have a GSL, 12A engine, Disc brakes all around.
all of the parts stores I've gone to can't seem to order 'just' the calipers that will fit my caliper slide mounts. The slides have been too large for the Caliper.

The parts store will not guarantee that if I order fully loaded Calipers that they will actually bolt to my vehicle. I don't like paying shipping and waiting 2 weeks for parts to arrive that won't actually fit my car. And I'm tired of having to loudly voice my displeasure with them that they 'are' going to refund the shipping I paid, because they are unable to order the 'correct' parts for my vehicle.

what I need to know is on the rear disc brakes, where the Caliper mount is bolted on with 2 14mm bolts, is there any difference between the G, GS, GSL, and GSL-SE, as far as the caliper mount bolt holes?

I'm desperately in need of rear brakes, the fronts aren't enough to slow the vehicle down, and I have to use the transmission for braking.

if anyone has any experience with this, please let me know.

Thanks!

Well the parts stores do not know what they are doing then!

The only models that have rear disc brakes are the GSL and GSL-Se. Then they are not interchangeable.

As long as someone did not change your brake and suspension set up to a Se one then their is no way they can screw up the order. If someone changed your set up then you would have a bolt pattern of 4 X 114.3 instead of the 4 X 110.

you might want to try the dealership too, they actually have an accurate parts catalog for the car.

You are shopping at the wrong place. Any of the chain stores can have the parts to you within days and will not charge shipping.

Also, since your car is a 12A car have them order calipers for a 81-83, GSL. Same parts and those years do not have an incorrect option to screw with your supplier.

wtf two weeks for the parts to come in!?!??! Sorry I am in the parts biz why the hell would it take two weeks? A tradional jobber could have yours sent in R & R 'd and have back in roughly 1 week? But there should be cores out there so just ordering it in should do.

sorry for the rant , but great idea tell the non-pro at parts store a year where the SE would not be a factor seriously good thinking
