What kind of info are you looking for?

82rx7resto 03-28-08 05:33 PM

will the normal Rx7 parts like the gsl parts fit? because it needs alittle work to be back in running condition

djessence 03-28-08 05:34 PM

K well more info would be nice.

You have the 12A engine. All non SE models had it. You have the small axles, they got bigger halfway through 83. Most parts of any non se will fit with some exceptions. As i said really we need to know more about what you need to know. You list some questions, we give some answers, maybe tell you to search a bit and then you reward us with some pictures of progress.

Welcome to the forum

I thought you could, seeing how a restoration project on a first gen, and a first gen forum kinda go hand in hand?

Maybe I missed the point.

It's got a silver "targa" band on the roof, like the old '72 Porsche 911.http://www.pelicanparts.com/pelican/tom_911-2.jpg

i'm pretty sure he was joking dude,

Yeah it is basically a gsl with a targa band. Now this car could've "REALLY" been something if the targaband was covering some roof re-enforcement for a lift off 1 piece roof panel or even t-tops. Just imagine, that would've been cool. Instead the targa band is just a simulation for the imagination, nothing special really.

ForsakenRX7 03-29-08 05:41 PM

Oh, I thought it was something cooler. Like a targa top roofed first gen. The metal band thing kinda breaks up the lines of the car too much for my taste. But to each his own I guess.

My thoughts, exactly.
It was probably a marketing gimmick to appeal specifically to the tasteless American market. Ya know, hood scoops and brake vents that aren't functional, shit like that. :puke:

chino_rx3 03-29-08 08:04 PM

Well well well. he was new and wanted to help the guy,., now disapoint him

FBsliderseven 03-30-08 12:57 AM

an actual targa top would be cool on a fb.

yeah he was making a point about the vendor rules on this forum.

mazdaverx713b 03-30-08 07:18 AM

there were two different variations of the targa band that was available with the IMSA body package. some were labeled as "Targa 7" and the others, especially the later models were simply labeled "MAZDA". this was printed directly on the portion of the targa band that covers the B-pillar. post pics if you have a chance to do so.

82rx7resto 03-30-08 09:42 AM

Yeah its the Targa 7 with the body package. Im probly bringing it home within the next few weeks and ill post some pics when i do

Vashner 03-30-08 10:10 AM

Yea it sounds nice. I would leave it on.

The Targa band was part of the IMSA apearance package, wich offered the band, a front air dam, and a 3 piece wrap around spoiler.
