10.22 sec on the 1/8 mile

Is 10.22 sec on the 1/8 mile good for a 85 GS 12A 4 barel open exaust manufold casts are pluged :{

all stock with 13" tires shifting at 6.5 to 6.7 RPM

K-Tune 08-29-04 08:02 PM

sounds reasonable.

i pulled 9.6 with stock carb/stock ports...but everything else modified. still on the stock 13"s.

tjgosurf 08-29-04 08:07 PM

now you can tell everyone you have a 10 second car. but its ok, we all know the truth.

Brianhsval 08-29-04 08:11 PM

Good run. What was your 60' time?

immanuel__7 09-04-04 12:23 PM

my reaction time was .554 T1 (60' i thiunk) 2.216 68.810mph

Brianhsval 09-04-04 12:54 PM

Respectable for a 20?? yr old car. Not far off what mine does.

rxtasy3 09-04-04 01:12 PM

not bad. my best run is a 9.38 with sp 13b, 195 50/15 street tires aired down to 20-25 psi and alittle tire spin at the shift to 3rd. u planning any mods?

jorx81@aol.com 09-04-04 03:47 PM

I ran 9.76 all stock 12a on 205/60's. airpump and a/c removed.
gotta be a record, it normally ran high 9.9's to 10 flat.
this was all hard powershifting though, she'd chirp 3rd.

immanuel__7 09-05-04 12:38 PM

i have 17psi in the tires i burn them till the smoke turns around the tires then i burn off access rubber before the line. i hold rpm @ 6k and let her rip i think i spin a bit off 1 and some of 2end.
i plan to install a 1990 13B n/a with the with the trany and dif so i can have all whell disk brakes. and im looking at installing a turbo

CrazyJoe12a 09-05-04 03:55 PM

My '82 went 9.96 at 70mph with a RB header and a slightly modded carb, with a 2.3 60'.

So with a stock manifold, I'd say thats about right...

Why does everybody talk about the 1/8th of a mile now? When I used to drag race on the weekends we all went by 1/4 mile times and when you asked someone what their car runs, they'd always assume you meant the 1/4 mile. Was this 1/8 mile stuff started by ricers to make their cars sound fast? I'm not downing you in anyway, just trying to understand.

lovintha7 09-05-04 05:18 PM

Some tracks are only a 1/8 mile long...

Ported7 09-05-04 05:38 PM

My stockport with mikuni and RB exhaust ran 9.36 ate best with 15 inch Kosei racing wheels. But that's pretty descent, then again I don't shift at 6.5 either.Time for more tuning,My friggin street port only ran 15.6 in the 1/4 after it ket losing fuel pressure in second.I was really dissappointed.

That makes sense.. I guess I was spoiled at Moroso MP. I'm runnin 10's baby! ha

immanuel__7 09-06-04 08:10 AM

from what i under stand they started making 1/8 to help the reacers out. racers dont have to push there cars as long, its not as hard on parts, you can run more people in a day. and save on the insurence. thats just wat i got from some people.
