First off, let me get formalities out the way

Please do not try this at home. It is reckless and downright irresponsible to be driving like this on a public road. I apologise for this behaviour, but I would like to share it with you nonetheless :rock:

we're entering the local highway. Speed limit is 75mph. There was some traffic and they didn't want to get out of the way for the first gen so we waited and blew past them on the left. There is footage of the speedo going right down off the clock with the revs at about 6k. I suspect the speedo is over reading a little. There was still lots of grunt left, but I tapped off soon after.

That was awsome lol!

Telephone poles whipping by like a picket fence, speedo needle wrapped around the peg...

best part of that clip was pulling out from behind that vw jetta.....then putting the pedal to the metal in fourth.....if you listen closely the over rev buzzer came on while i was in fourth....the speedo needle was close to the peg at that point......passed the jetta....passed the toyota celica....passed the van....passed the red car in front of the van......up into fifth and back into the fast lane. thank goodness my passenger held his nerve to take the footage.

also, you'll notice the car is quite well balanced and stable...no drifting or fighting the steering wheel. In fact, you'll notice I hold the steering wheel very lightly....hands just resting on it at certain points.

I'd guess that was in Kilometer's not MPH. I don't think an rx-7 can go 120 mph at 6k rpm? It's not even possible unless he's running a different rear end from another car with some low gears or somehow changed the transmission?

Either way it sure sounded nice! What's the mod list? Definatly sounds like header and exhaust!

to answer some of the questions

the speedo is in mph, goes to 130mph. Those are the big letters on the outside. There are kmh readings in small letters on the inside of the dial. I struggle to read those at speed, so have just memorised the important ones, like if the speed limit is 120, I need to be 75, or that i'm doing 160kmh when reading is 100mph

I dunno howcome the speedo cable never broke. Its the std cable which was in the car.

What you guys have seen in the video is an untuned run. This car has not been on a dyno yet or the carb adjusted in any way. The way the engine builder set the carb and timing when the car was started first time is how its running in that video. I booked some dyno time for the end of the month when I will post the chart.

I am a bit sorry I didn't carry out some further mods....like doing something about the rotors. the rotors I used were the std tii ones. i should have used some higher compression ones, like from the rx8 or the 13b n/a. And perhaps I should have lightened the flywheel as well. But one has a budget with these things...and you can easily get carried away. At the end of the day, I'm quite happy with the performance I'm getting for the money spent.

I still have a carrier bag here with suspension stuff I bought from VB -> front and rear wheel bearings, tie rod ends, front brake discs, ball joints, energy poly bushings for front and rear sway bars, lower control arms and the watts link. Just need to fit all that stuff now.

Wow. We have rather similar set ups. Both N/A S5s, but my engine actually started life as an N/A. My car has been tuned/tinkered with only a minor bit and from the video, our cars seem to be similar.

Were does your power really start to come in? From my experience, 4 ports are a little torquier, but with the low comp. rotors, I'm wondering how that affects your power band.

I don't really have any power at all below 5-5.5k rpm, and I know my old 4 port used to come into its own at about 3.5-4k. It had the standard -SE compression ration, though. I would love to put some TII irons on my new motor, though. High compression rotors on an N/A streetported "turbo" motor would be incredible.

Daihatsu wins,about 10 meters front

Now you can see in a .3gp video(for mobile phones) my daihatsu charade with 165ps
make 220 k/h (136.7 miles/h).
And as you can see i have 9000 rpm,and at this time is less of 6000 rpm!!!!!
Thats mean i have more power to go 145 miles/h or more...........

And I don't see anything unsafe with what you were doing, although I doubt your local law enforcement would agree.

So, to recap, you placed a bet on a race involving vehicles that aren't rotary powered, recorded it on your cellphone, then placed said video on a forum full of people who have cars that would literally eat your Daihatsu alive, for no other purpose but to gain one post count?
