tempusfugitive 12-09-04 06:39 PM

when you have a partially rebuilt nikki and all four stock rims sitting in your bedroom, while you wait for the end of winter.

brandon davis 12-09-04 06:41 PM

i think i should throw in here that i owe alot of thanks to all you knowledgable 7 gurus out there who tought me how to get a rotary started after sitting for a few years.

you know when you're a firts generation owner when you cant drive your car and you miss the feeling of being in the driver seat. and you cry :(

HAH i actually had my step bro leave a monkey wrench in my engine bay and it took me a good 15 min of driving around 'waiting for the squealing belt to stop' to pull over for gas and check my engine bay... turns out it was up on the belt and pulley, prolly robbing my 100hp of about 10 of it hahaha

ok, back to the jokes, those are fun :D

I can't talk my wife into letting me get a parts car.
At least my RX7 gets the only spot in the garage, so I guess I can't complain! :bigthumb:

gslse_in_vt 12-09-04 08:17 PM

When you have a open ended 12mm wrench cut in half in your tool box so you can remove your 12a carb.

When you know what size wrenches you need without checking to remove any part of your car.

When your local Mazda dealership parts manager recognizes your voice on the telephone.

When you're willing to drive 100 miles to a salvage yard because they just got another 1st gen and it might have the interior pieces you need!

When the car's previous owner shows up randomly at your house to visit his old RX7. True story! I changed the ignition and door locks in case he has a spare key! :nono:

vipernicus42 12-09-04 08:38 PM

Okay, this is the same as the "you know you're a 1st gen owner" thread... only *slightly* changed. I'm merging them.

-When you have a perfect & complete tool set that stays in the car.

-When you have a spare J109 ignitor in your tool box.

-When you take a pistonhead for a impressive ride, and top it off by telling him it's a 70 cid engine.

vipernicus42 12-09-04 08:40 PM

When you get a ride in your friend's massively upgraded TII, it blows your mind and say "dude.. that would work SO much better in my car" :p:

when you just mindlessly stare at your rex so long your freinds tell you what the hell are you doing?

Moonchopper 12-09-04 09:11 PM

... you get excited about seeing a 1st gen somewhere on the road, even though your 7 has never been driven/started ever since you've owned it.

... everytime you drive by a 1st gen in the morning, you instantly perk up.

... you finally realize you no longer have to check the size of every single bolt before turning it.

[edit] ... you're late for school because you were admiring the way your 7 looked with morning dew on it. (Guilty :p:)

djjazzynads 12-09-04 09:28 PM

When you have to insist that your idle bouncing up and down is NOT a sign of your car's imminent death.

When you literally cannot bring all your laundry home from school for break because your car is packed to the gills after just 2 suitcases.

When you and your brother can do a complete engine swap over the course of four evenings with no special tools needed.

Moonchopper 12-09-04 09:40 PM

Damn. I wish I had that kind of time/talent. I started taking my engine out well over 2 months ago. Still haven't even gotten the tranny unbolted from the engine - and it [the tranny] is staying in the car :banghead:

Anyways, back to the original topic:

... your friends get annoyed everytime you talk about an awesome deal on a part/car that you might buy.

[edit] Left one word out.

TurboFB 12-09-04 09:58 PM

...when beating civics becomes a chore

...when your girlfriend asks you if the car is more important, or her

...when you're an hour late to dinner because you just HAD to screw in that last bolt in your engine..

TurboFB 12-09-04 10:01 PM

And I forgot..

...when hugging your 7 becomes a daily routine

apexme 12-09-04 10:20 PM

when you don't eat for 2 days to pay for gas to go pick your rx7 up... in the next state.

when you spend your last 1000$ for an rx7 knowing you have no job and if you get one tomorrow it'll be 2 weeks before you get paid...

when you borrow money from your brother to buy parts for your 'future rx7'... thats in the next state

damn, these aren't as funny as ya'lls :( lol maybe b/c it's true

88t2romad 12-09-04 10:23 PM

lol, i love this thread.

heres one.........when you read EVERY post on this thread and it relates to you

Edit:

ok, im guilty, i own 2 fc's

TurboFB 12-09-04 11:20 PM

lol...hmm...

...when 8,000 rpms just isn't enough...

...when you cancel a date with your girlfriend to install your new wheels. (lol, sad)

...when you believe there should be an extra day to the week called Rotary-Day.

well you only have like 3 choices!

my turn:

when you have more pictures of the car than you do your girlfriend

you get behind the wheel of a ford taurus and think "wow this has tight steering"

-when its sanded and partially primed and think to yourself "Damn, it still looks good"
-when your boss says his lawnmower has a bigger engine than your stock 7, and then challenges you to a race.
