Wind Deflecters

All, I am looking for wind deflecters that were mounted on the rear view mirrors, they were aftermarket needless to say. I saw them 10 to 15 years ago and did not buy a pair. They were mounted between the door and the rear view mirrors, and funneled wind into the cabin to help move air into the cabin.

Any one have those?

Thanks,
Don

I remember those, they were made by re-speed. They have been out of business for quite some time. I believe they bolted under the side view mirrors.

This would be something that can be 3D printed very easily. Do you have some pictures?

Correct, they went underneath the Mirror mounts.

I do not have any pictures, let me see if I can find any.

Is this the one you're referring to?
They were made by Westin/Wade, but they have stopped production of it (I've asked).

Nope, those are wind deflectors to keep air out, I want air in. Sort of like if I had vent windows to open and deflect air in.

No luck on photos. I tried the Wayback Machine and could not even find the website for re-speed. Google search did not find anything for images.

The way I remember them is that they mounted between the door and the mirror pedastel, then came up a ways and then were folded up towards the side of the mirror and then angled back towards the mirror. Basically just formed a funnel to divert air into the cabin of the car. Probably worked real well on blowing rain off the dor windows also.

Oh, you mean wind INflectors! I've always just put my arm on the window sill and the back of my fingers against the mirror. Upside is it's infinitely variable flow rate!

Don't laugh - I've been doing exactly that for 40+ years!

There is also a decent flow of air from the dashboard side vents at speed and that's worked for me for thirty-plus years.

Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for finding that 82transam.

Hand does work well for diverting air into the cabin, but that would be full time.

Interesting, I've never seen those before but they look easy enough to make.
Great for cars without a/c!

This is easy enough to reproduce. I'll make one on the 3D printer and test the fitment on my parts car. If it looks OK, I'll cut one on my CNC plasma.

Cool, KansasCityREPU. I hope you like how it looks and if you do proceed to metal cutting, I would like to buy a pair.

I'll be working on this over the weekend. Don't know price yet but it won't be very expensive.

Cheaper than installing A/C on the car and less of a hit on power.

Made the first part of the wind deflector. I wanted to make a cushion, so the metal deflector wasn't metal-on-metal. This is patterned from a 1985 S Model non-power window mirror.

The final product of this gasket will be about 3mm and printed in TPU 85, TPU has some cushion to it.

Cool. I was just going to use a cut up inner tube to protect the paint. That looks better.

Not yet. I did find an electric mirror base and I'm going to make a base for that one also. Sorry I'm kind of slow on this. I said it was easy, and it is.

I spent last weekend removing the gas tank in my 1985 GSL to replace the fuel level sender with another one. I applied POR-15 on the outside of the tank, inside was perfect, just need to install it this weekend. I feel the pain of anyone that needs a new/working fuel sending unit. The part is NLA. Did find the exact part number on eBay with the low fuel sensor but luckily the one in my parts car was good. The issue I see with these is that the coil swiper wire breaks. Replacing that wire is possible but requires watch maker skills.
