i bought a 52 dollar "gold plated" heater hose for the se from mazdatrix, the one that runs from the heater core to under the oil filter, cause it got i pen hole in it. and for the record dont buy the one rockauto has listed for like 12 bucks they say thats what its for but its like 6 inches to short that was my first try.

I've gotta post up a pic of how I did that fix sometime - it's the most ghetto rig I've ever done haha  I just looked at my poor girl in the driveway today. Might have to drive her tomorrow as it's been almost a week due to starting my first week of college this year.

i washed my 85 a week ago and its been sitting in the garage since.. i was going to drive it after i got off of work either today or tomorrow but the weather has been less than cooperative.. i promised my son a ride in the FB.. i despise the rain..

I went to autozone and picked up a new thermostat and fresh coolant

Polished and blacked out my rims on my 82 this weekend. Came up well for a quick home job. Only cost me about $11 as well!!

Haha I would need a real job too, can barely afford the gas right now :p anyway, changed both wheel cylinders and brake shoes on both sides, added brake fluid yesterday, boy is it nice to be able to stop :p hopefully this is the last repair for a while, although I will be needing a new/rebuilt ac pump soon :p

I took her out for some excersize. March of Dimes autocross for charity. Here's a clip of my best run (still sloppy though). Out of 60+ cars, I came in 56th overall. those 4 that beat me had turbos and an excess of power though. Not too shabby for my little workhorse. :)

You mean you came in 5th overall?

Rotor_Venom08 09-09-12 08:41 PM

replaced my toasted transmission mount and engine mounts, and replaced my cats with a straight pipe. :egrin:

After having him sit up for almost 4 months, I finally got everything back in the engine bay to stay and not just cranked but drove around for a bit. It feels good to have the 7 back together to run around base with. Now to find time to start changing out fluids and order a block off plate for the omp.

Yeah, 5th overall. Just got word there were 70 cars, not 60 as I said before. I won my class by like 7 or 8 seconds. Official results will be posted tomorrow so I'll have the exact details then. :)

Autocross is better on open pavement, I hate the "autocross" they do at Daytona International Speedway on the infield kart track.. might as well do time trials or something. At least there they had slalom and other obstacles on the pavement at your event, at Daytona they just straight up run the kart track and don't even use the best part of it.. plus they run the same damn thing every single time. You'd think the SCCA could put on a decent event, there are TONS of open pavement parking lots to use outside the track.

Reran my positive battery cable, rewired the LC-1 and Afr gauge, got all of the interior put back in and made a good single lug ground connection for all the electronics.

what class are you in?

ill be doin my first parking lot style autoX at the end of this month, and from reading the SCCA rule book, I found that im technically/legally classed as a SSM, thus putting my modest lil car up against some prepped EVO's, STI's, a Z06 and a swapped 240 on race rubber... lolz at me

I removed the triangulated sections of my strut bar, so I'm back in CSP. I need to move up though, so I don't kill the class. We get all sorts of Vettes, Mustangs, Miatas, Firebirds/Camaros, etc. They do not worry me. :)

The cars that beat me on a regular basis are the ones with $30k into the motors alone, sitting on $4k worth of tires. There is a Subaru STI that was built by a well known shop in Chicago. And a boosted Solstice on huge rubber. A late model MR2 with a turbo. And a supercharged Miata on 255 Hoosiers that "usually" gets me. They all run in SSM/SM, which is where I'll be if I "move up" in class. I think I'll need a 13b with a streetport at the least before I can give them a hard time on a regular basis. A small turbo might be better though, I'm not sure. But give me a tight course with no straight sections where they can apply their power, and I have a fighting chance. The race this next Saturday should be a great example of that.

Good tires certainly help. I highly recommend the Hankook Ventus race tires...

Spent the weekend washing, clay-barring, and waxing, cleaning tires and wheels. Engine bay dust-out tonight, and I believe it's time to readjust the rear brakes again.

JCCS in Long Beach this coming Saturday, then two more weeks to SevenStock. Slightly bummed about a couple projects that are just refusing to come together in time, but that happens sometimes.

Continued hot weather has put a serious damper in my garage time this summer; 103 peak temp yesterday. Tough to get wax to come out streak-free when you're dripping sweat all over it.

PK_12A 09-10-12 02:52 PM

Spent a few days driving her around before I put her on a trailer for the move, we also had some light rain so I found an empty parking lot and did some doughnuts. No real work but, I want to drive her some so. . .

This is going to look amazing once you are done.

All I had time to do today was bleed my clutch and replace that fluid....oh and I drove the 7 around for about 90 minutes this evening to adjust to it again and hope to diagnose some more tuning I need to do to my mikuni and t3.

Sounds like me, minus the SC and I run in DP. I kill turbo cars all day long.. but of course they aren't in my class.
