There should be nothing but love for this, in my opinion.

By the way, I’m not saying there is anyone shaking their heads in this thread, lol, just that I sometimes feel like we as an RX7 community have a bit of an inferiority complex. It’s like the Lotus guys: want their cars to be worth way more... ‘til it comes to buying one. Then what they are trying to buy is “overpriced”.

Anyway, I think I’ve messed up this opinion enough

you make a great point, and i just wanted to acknowledge and support it.

i'm guilty of it, and that shouldn't be. more and more, these days, i'm seeing all these cars in pristine condition and/or ridiculously low mileage, and sellers asking prices commensurate with what they have, and my first thought is the price is in insane. meanwhile, i won't even look at a 240Z (for fear of a TIA or full-blown stroke), and i find myself justifying the prices on 260s and 280s (moreso 280s since i rarely see 260s) even in shitty conditions simple because they are 70s Z-cars. so, speaking for myself, i think there may be something to this "inferiority complex". i need to change. :)

As someone who doesn't always love the look of 1st gens... that is an absolute perfect color combo for that car.

My car has 130k miles and i paid 2,400$ in 2016, good luck finding a car that clean for under 6k in so cal now. We are all ready to see a slow uptick in third party parts by techno toy tuning, rotary engineering, and a few other small startups.

I.ve heard rotary guys/gals are of a different breed than other car enthusiasts. Little more hard core!

And it still had the original tires on it........I tried listing a 83 GSL with 36k and automatic , all original and BAT wanted to list it with no reserve...I said no thanks....I did list a 71 Ford Ranchero GT clone earlier this year but reserve was not met....

I know this is a massively unpopular opinion, but an auto first-gen should cost double what a manual does simply due to rarity ( less than 10% were autos ) and the fact it makes it immediately more accessible to everyone. My Mach 1 is a stick shift and as much as is like banging gears, I live in So cal, and driving a stick here is bullshit . Mind you that jatco trans is nearly indestructible as I have run me with low ATF oil and after my rebuild and new gaskets ensuring the leaks stopped it shifts like a new car and it has 120 k on it.

"I know this is a massively unpopular opinion..."
:D
Exactly. THATs why the manuals command the Coin. In most any breed of sports car for sale.

" all original and BAT wanted to list it with no reserve"
-yeah, deal breaker for a lot of sellers. And what is annoying is it seems arbitrary! I HAVE seen 1st Gen RX7 WITH a reserve on BaT. No logic. But if you want on one of the worlds most popular car auction sites..."
;P
