pic request-sunroof latches

mine is broke and also different from the ones i have seen-it is a latch instead of a knob. thanks

mazdaverx713b 01-17-08 12:22 AM

since its a latch type and the pic of your car looks like an FB, i would say that your sunroof is an aftermarket type.

WAS:12A 01-17-08 12:25 AM

^ FB's came with sunroofs dude.

PercentSevenC 01-17-08 12:31 AM

If it's the type I'm thinking it is, I think they may be dealer-installed. I had one on my old '81 S and I've seen the same style on a few others, but it's not factory.

mazdaverx713b 01-17-08 12:31 AM

WAS:12A, thats true, however the FB had a rotary type knob that would raise and lower the sunroof, not a latch as the original poster had described his car having.

mazdaverx713b 01-17-08 12:34 AM

as a note, the ONLY 1st gen 7 to come with the latch type for the sunroof was in model year 1979. in 1980, mazda switched to the design using the rotary knob on all oem equipped sunroof models until 1985.

1985 rx7 gs, and it's not the rotary type knob, the metal parts that connect to the roof are broke, any ideas? thanks

mazdaverx713b 01-17-08 12:36 AM

post a pic of what you're describing and hopefully we can help you out a little better.

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 12:36 AM

i will try to get a pic tomorrow, just need batteries for my cam.

mazdaverx713b 01-17-08 12:38 AM

that would be most helpful. this way we can better assess the situation and see what you're looking at. this will help us give you some ideas on how to go about fixing the metal parts that are broken.

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 12:44 AM

ok thanks. on the latch it says "c&c cars and concepts"

raindog 01-17-08 12:08 PM

i have the same one on my 85 gs, and the pin/key thingy to hold it open is MIA. i will try to get pics.

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 03:50 PM

how do i post a pic from my computer?

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 05:25 PM

ok it's in my sig pic.

ourxseven 01-17-08 06:46 PM

:rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: , sorry i'm no help

but this thread just got real funny with all the comments about how to post a pic with it now in your sig under them all.

its hard to tell if its like the '79 latch . the '79 has a horizontal pin in the latch that goes into a small bracket on the roof with two (female) openings on each end for the pin to slide into to remove the roof. A clamp on the latch snugs the pin in place to just raise the roof .

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 06:51 PM

ok what about this pic? and yes it is funny!

PercentSevenC 01-17-08 09:31 PM

That's a different style from the one on my old '81 S.

85rx7crazydriver 01-17-08 10:38 PM

anyone?

waysrx7 01-17-08 11:06 PM

that's not from a '79 or north american rx7 that I know of. It's aftermarket which means few people, if any, will have one to show you.
I can give you pics of a '79 latch, but it probably wont help you.

raindog 01-18-08 12:42 AM

like i said, i have the same one, on a 85 gs originally from missouri, is it possible that sunroof is from a dealer in MO and ours have just jumped the border?

85rx7crazydriver 01-18-08 01:53 AM

mine is from m.o.

85rx7crazydriver 01-18-08 02:18 AM

missouri.

raindog 01-18-08 10:35 AM

interesting, perhaps our cars are brothers...

85rx7crazydriver 01-18-08 08:22 PM

hmmmm....

85rx7crazydriver 01-19-08 02:32 PM

any ideas?
