Louvers or Mariah rear hatch?

I wouldn't mind doing either one if I can find them at a good price.
So what's y'all opinion? If you have pics of them on your ride post them up.

The Mariah rear hatch looks better in my opinion. I don't know how easy it's going to be to find one though. Good luck.

I had louvers on my 81, never got pics of it before it was impounded and I never saw it again.

Here's my 85, scored the hatch on Craigslist for 400 and paid 100 to ship it. Final paint will be bottom half black, top half silver.

Seen this on my rss feeds. I'm no fb guy but I do have a louver for the back window and I believe it's in great shape too. Some guy local was throwing it out and offered it on craigslist so I went and grabbed it. I've had it stored for over a year. It's stored at my father-in-laws in a shipping box. If interested, let me know.

Before you paint it - make sure you add a rear wing to "balance it out".

And to the Original Poster - here's pic with louvers.

i have louvers on my 84, its definitely a love hate relationship, i drove a week with them on and a week with them off, i like it both ways is my problem

personally i think the mariah hatch is so legit, i have never seen something like that before and it looks so good, if you want to spend 1200 and have that to burn i say go for it, but you could just get some louvers and with the money you save get some wheels or exhaust as well, its your car and money so do what you like

I just thought if I found one used somewhere I would ****** it up.
I have spent $850 just on a fiberglass hood for my truck lol.

I have a full exhuast, wheels/tires, suspension, and several other mods already.

I've always liked the Mariah hatch. Would love to have one if I could find an affordable one.

Not a huge fan of either, but I would just go with some aluminum louvers.

IMO louvers are very 80's styling and fit with the car, but the Mariah hatch just screams fast to me and looks great with accompanying widebody or Mariah mode 4 body parts.

Noted, got this one right now... Still holding out for an old IMSA style but I doubt I'll find one.

Get some factory louvers. The hatch seems like an ad-on as apposed to an original piece like the louvers.

IMHO, the Mariah hatch looks fine from the outside (though I question its aerodynamics - - looks like a vacuum pocket generator to me) but I'm not impressed with the way it looks from inside the car, and it seems by design to eliminate both a ton of visibility to the rear quarters, and most of the useful space in the rear hatch area.

Driver visibility and carrying capacity have always been two of my favorite things about the first gen. My lil' '80 is far superior to my 350Z in both categories.

The hatch can look good if put on a widebody and painted the right color IMO. I am looking towards getting the plastic louvers with the side window louvers but have never researched them. I suppose they might break and aren't as good as aluminum ones.

maybe I'm just too young to carry some nostalgia for louvers but it's way too hedgehog, faux body mustang for me. If any, Mariah, but with the rear hatch glass and sides tinted...stock is hard to beat.
