Don't know, but if they are, I know the FC shift **** is interchangeable with Mustangs.

I believe 81-88 RX-7 ***** are compatible, having a M12 x 1.5 threaded ****.

I know for sure 89-91 have a M10 x 1.25 threaded ****, as do Miatas.

Hm...I really want to get an RE-Amemiya shift ****, but they're only listed for FC's (no FB section on their site)

Is it the FD/FC compatible **** ? Most likely going to be the later year.

An S5 shifter will bolt right into an FB transmission.

Hmm...is there any advantage to that? I really don't like the stock shifter. Long throws and fairly sloppy. I hear the Miata short shifters are good, maybe one of those with this ****?

I don't know about S4, but S5 shift ***** do not fit the FB. Swapping the shifters is easy though, I currently have an S5 shifter with Miata shift **** on it. There is no advantage to changing to a FC shifter, they are the same length and everything.

FC **** is a bigger pattern than both SA and FB. SA and FB are interchangeable with Miatas, Hondas etc. I have a Miata short shifter on my FC and I'm running an SA **** on it. I have a couple FB ***** laying around and they fit the SA shifter.

I guess I'll get it then. Not now, but pretty soon. If it doesn't fit, I'll throw an S5 shifter in it.

Just an update on this thread for posterity. I got the RE shiftknob (straight from japan yo!) and it will not fit a stock (s3/s4) shift lever. I'm going to buy and install an S5 shifter then take some pics. The feel is sooo much better than stock, but that isn't really the reason I got it. It just looks awesome

Somebody said in this thread that they are running an S5 shifter in their S3 without problems. Would this mean that an S5 short throw should also fit without problem? I found one on ebay for $17...

My new ****:

Came off a *gulp* honda. Same threads and size as the stocker, but the threads are deeper inside and make it look like a short shifter.

I've got a Mazda fanboy **** on an S5 shifter in mine:

It's for a Miata from www.mmmiata.com, they also have one in wood.

Back in the day I wanted an RX8 shift ****, but they were kind of overpriced. I ended up getting a **** designed for a Mistubishi Starion and doing some work to it. I had to cut a taper into the base with a lathe to make it sit nice and low.

Right after I did all that, I got my parts car which happened to have a nice RX8 shift **** in it.
