1st Gens in the Movies -
 

Ok, this may be kinda lame, but I am a movie buff, and ever since I got my 1st Gen I have noticed them in the backgrounds of movies, like in the kick ass movie pulp fiction (one of my favorites) When they take the "dirty" car that the black kid marvin got shot in to Monster Joes Truck and Tow, there is a blue 1st gen on a car trailer in the background when they are standing out front. I also noticed one in the severely corny 80's movie with arnold shwazanegger - Commando. It is in the parking garage when they leave the airport and in the parking garage at the mall, both are silver and are probably the same car.... and garage for that matter, (hollywood corner-cutting). I know I know, get a life, you have too much time on your hands, etc, I just notice shit in the backgrounds of my favorite movies is all. Let me know if you guys have spotted 1st gens in the movies.

IN the origonal gone in 60 sec they ran into a mazda dealership full of rx3's ;) I see 1st gens in movies all the time... especially old movies... I look in he back ground alot to... SHIT SHIT SHIT STOP THE TAPE THERE WAS A 1st gen back there ;)

i cant for the life of me remember the name, but it was some "detective" movie we watched in history of my freshman year, the lady detective's car was a first gen, it was everywhere.

Yep, if I'm watching a movie and there's an rx7 in it, I'll see it.

I think there is a really crappy white rx4 in One Hour Photo infront of Robin Willams' apartment. Can anyone conform this? Its a really quick shot and i couldnt tell for sure.

I see more 2nd gens than 1st gens, but the Geico commercial where the chick is trying to pic up here kid and doesn't have a car (only an air horn) has a FC in it.

Also, in "Don't be a menace to south central while drinking your juice in the hood" has a FC in it.

there is a red fd in office space. they show it a couple times. its in the parking spot right next to the boss guy. good movie

3 Strikes has a sunrise red w/black interior, series 2 in it. Stock alloys, and a sunroof, you can only see parts of it for a second or two at a time, i must have paused the dvd a dozen or more times to see it.

there is a first gen in one of the lethal weapon movies, i think it is brown, it shows a chick get out of it and she gets attacked or somethin i think.

kinda off topic..when im looking for car care/parts i always see 2nd gen..i never noticed till i owned one..kinda funny how that is

omg lol im one of those people too who always is watchin the background for stuff , and now that i got into rx-7s i have watched tons of older 80's movies and there everywhere, now if i can just remember the names hehehe, i saw one in a cop show and it was black in mint beutiful condition witha chrom/sillver targa band, god lol, i jumped up and i yelled 1st gen 1st gen 1st gen !!! my family looks at me... it was funny.... lol

I rented "Ballistic" last evening. There was a nice metallic blue 1st generation in the early scene. It was a shooting scene and it was rather painful to see it got shot to the shits. BTW, the movie sucked!

I was watchin' "You Gotta See This" and they were doin a segment on in car cameras, and they showed a road race that was nothing but 1st gens. Anyways, they showed about 4 of them piling up from an inboard camera and i was like :eek: :( LAter

I hate when movies trash cool cars, just get a bunch of old cavaliers and blow them up if you must.

well anyway there is one for a split second in a fast parking garage chase scene,

its real quick glimps, there going around in one of those circular style parking garages, and for about a total of two frames there is an rx7.

look real hard and you will see,
my g/f didnt believe me that i seen one so I rewound the dvd and did frame by frame, we found it in two frames and one was blured.

maybe its cause i have owned so many?
or its because thats all i owned since I was 18?

Any one here got the .mpg of the guy in the FB trying to outrun the cops.. That was some funny shit, the dude talking was saying 'this guy is pushing that turbo rotary etc etc' turbo my ass LOL

I know there is an FB in one of the Howling movies with the Werewolves and all. It's silver I think and this guy rescues this chick from all the werewolves and he hauls ass with it. Slams on the brakes and kind of drifts. The car gets blown up and like destroyed by werewolves later on. It was cool and tragic. I don't know which Howling movie it was..might be the first or second one.

I know this thread got pushed back, but I just felt I needed to bring it back up, I was just watching Ransom with Mel Gibson and thought I would share that I saw a 2nd Gen in a scene towards the end of the movie.

i saw a really shitty australian movie called "Red Line" , and there is a purple first gen in it. for a second...

sammymatik yeap I saw that movie and it was really bad but about the only nice car was the rx7...hahaha

talk about bad cars in that movie..the bad guy's "nice" car was an old porsche that got blown up. What a bad movie....thank God a friend of mine lend it to me and I didn't have to pay for it.

yeah n the original gone in 60 sec u see rotary p/u too and a bunch of 3s n the show room, i always say when im watching it watch out for those cars..

in that one movie with mark wahlberg with all the mini's, can't think of the name. Anyway at the end when they mess up the lights there are 2 rx7s one fb one fc same color. if i remember correctly. also in die hard at the very beginning when the truck pulls in there is an rx7 on screen, you can just barely tell cause its dark, but if you know fb you know its one.

one (fb) in line to race in cannonball run when the 2 guys drive there truck into the hotel.

"Redline" has some really nicely modded FB's and rx3's in it however the movie sucks balls

Not a movie, but it a episode of reno 911 there is a RX7 clearly sitting in the background! I just thought that was kinda cool.

I dont know if anyone else has seen it, but in a ton of seinfeld episodes when they switch to an outside view of his apartment, its usually dark when they do it, but I think its a red 7 I dont know for sure havent seen it in awhile so it might not be red. but it sits dead center of the side of the street so you see the car clearly for about three seconds.

An episode of COPS involves a small chase of a brown FB because the driver actually nailed a bicycle cop in the legs! The filming vehicle arrived late on the scene so you don't see the actual chase, just the deputies kicking the guy's skinny ass!

I thought it was hilarious, but it also made me think, has there ever been a chase scene involving an 1st gen?

That reminds me, In the Gumball 3000 documentary there are 2 FB's racing in Australia.

Another episode where this guy got stabbed in the head with a screwdriver at a gas station (OUCH!) a brown SA pulls up to get gas.

it's The Italian Job, the new one. I didnt catch that but at one point when they re-rout the armored trucks through traffic, there is a shot showing an intersection and theres an FB just to the left of the center of the screen. The camera moves up though so you dont see it for too long. Then you can see the same one from different aerial shots etc.

The only other one I caught was the Pulp Fiction one, where its on a trailer behind them after The Wolf drives away in the NSX.

i think there is a 1st gen in the italian job? it is in the new one not the old one. i love both the old and new. i think i have seen it in the trafic jam where the banker truck go's right it is a white one hard to see.

OK, I got this one. Bring It On. I know its a chick flick kinda, but if you look closely during the car wash scene, you will be able to see 2 sweet ass 7s. Trust me, they are hard to see. hehehe

Matrix reloaded in the trinity bike scene, there is a grey FB on the fast lane on one of the overhead scene...

in the new remake of the italian job.theres a scene were the crew is going to highjack the bank truck.the scene takes place on the street as soon as the traffic lights fail. you can first see a fc and then you can spot a fb.my girlfriend thought i was lame when i asked her to rewind the dvd.she asked me if i was for real. i think women dont apreciate the rotary like we men do..

There is a real nice clip of a 1st gen in the movie "Cujo"----I think that's what it's called. Its that movie about the dog that goes mad.

I just saw this movie (Howling 1 and it's an SA btw), I love the scene when the guy with the SA is at the gas station and tells the guy in front of him to hurry up and he replies "take it easy buddy not everyone can afford a Mazda" or something along those lines

In one of the first seasons, when there's a party on Long Island, an establishing shot outside the house is clearly an SA22
