BTW that is a really a great looking and functional bracket..I would pay $75 for it..I would be hard pressed to drop any more on it though..But in any event- very, very nice :)

Ok.. since everyone is going $75.. I'm in! :D

Glazedham42 11-11-03 01:20 PM

Ok guys, I'll admit it is a very beautiful part but $75?? Stock material isn't that rediculously expensive, and the CNC machines will do the majority of the work once you program them.

I think your pocketbooks are a little too loose here....

Rotary13B1 11-11-03 02:09 PM

Well, they were calling us cheapskates.....:wavey:

Gregs 11-11-03 02:12 PM

its nice but i wouldnt pay 75 bucks for it

Iam not trying to tell anyone what to do, but I agree with vipernicus42. I think you should mount the coils vertically. The reason being is that I have heard that the coils cool better in the vertical positon. Just what I have heard, personally mine are horizontal, like yours but if you are going to make the bracket look so good, I think it should atleast be positioned as well as it looks.

Node 11-13-03 03:33 AM

lmfao, you guys really undervalue stuff
I'd say $50 would be a good price for something like that.
Wouldn't require much more, two bolts, two nuts, and maybe a template for the retarded?

[El Bumpo]

I figured this thread was relevant again because of the DLIDFIS therad that everyone seems to be taking an interest in here:

So here's the bump if anyone wants it

Lemme ask a stupid question........why 3 coils?...that's my question..what is the advantage to 3 coils and how do you wire them up?

Nice Work Billy!

That car should be solid. I bet all of us here would love to see some in-car video when it drives in the dirt.

What drivetrain are you putting in there?

Brad

Re-Speed.com 12-11-03 07:50 PM

I have a Bridgeport 13b. Once the car has been run and the shake down done I will probably go with some boost. I have moved the bracket since the photo above to one of the down tubes. Looks better. The cage should be in it by the first of the year. I have notched and plated the frame rails to install the fuel cell. I have also double walled the strut tubes with some 2" OD tube. I put in about 60 hours a week at work so the build is taking a while.

BTW, Star Mazda has picked up the second group of 2004 formula Mazda cars and we will have 25+ out before Christmas.

Stupid Questions of the day: Are Blaster and other aftermarket coils the same diameter as our stock coils ?

What about 2nd Gen coils ?

Siraniko 02-22-05 09:32 AM

the blasters are same size as the stock. With the picture above, the coils will slide right in but I dont know what will hold it down.

With the FC, it will right up but it will be up to you on how you want it position. facing up or sideways. Just cut the wires from the igniters to the coil. you can also mount the FC coil in the a/c bracket's original location.

here's a pic using the stock bracket.

my FB with msd coils in horizontal position. its been like that for over 5 years.

Re-Speed.com 02-22-05 10:21 AM

The coil mounting orings are not in the picture. Nor are the tapped holes in the brackets I just noticed. I must have used an early picture.

Jeff20B 02-22-05 01:30 PM

Those brackets look great for DLIDFIS. I've gotta see if a DIS coil and an MSD do indeed work better together than hooking the MSD to two coils.

jayroc 02-22-05 08:46 PM

Yeah, wackyracer, where'd you get that bracket? Custom fab job? Looks like it was made for DLIDFIS..

thats the stock RX-7 coil bracket. Welded it to a piece of s-shape bracket with multiple mounting holes along with a piece of metal on each side to hold the igniters . Since I did many DLIDFIS jobs in the past, I just kept on adding more to my original idea. Thats pretty much the final product for now.

Siraniko 02-23-05 02:53 AM

yup :bigthumb:

web777 02-23-05 03:13 AM

Nice work!! A lot of talent on this forum!! You should make a universal bracket for it so that 2nd and maybe some 3rd gens will buy it also.

d0 Luck 02-23-05 10:01 AM

very shiny and pretty. will definitely look good on show car.

vipernicus42 02-23-05 10:10 AM

Aweseome :P

I definitely will be getting one when I go DLIDFIS

Jon
