"superclean hidden wire engine bay like the Aussies do it!"
we still have a shite load of wires and crap in ours! and yeah.. you dont see any nice 'showroom' engines with all the little annoying wires in them, so you 'MUST' be able to take them out (or move them all behind a nicee black cover or something! -Cheers |

Wow, you brought this sucker back from the dead DF. :D I'm still curious about some of the stuff that I put in the original post. I yanked the majority of it out, with no majorly ill effects. I still have all the wiring there just in case though....

OMG, you gotta be kidding. I gave up on this as I dont have time to do it. It would be a major undertaking to do for all cars/models. What are you bored Alex? |
Naw, just want this crap out.

I'm in the process of cleaning and painting under the hood too. The car is an 85 GS auto that will be getting a 5-speed. Emissions have already been removed per the Rats Nest Removal tutorial.
I've spent some time studying the wiring diagrams in the factory manual. Since I'm getting rid of the emissions, auto trans, and cruise control, there is a TON of stuff that can be eliminated. The attached document lists the parts I believe COULD BE eliminated. The first column lists the part, the second column gives the approximate locations, and the third column lists the color code for each wire going to the part. Hope this helps. |
Nice Job Bob!! If you were to complete this document with pictures, it would be absolutely perfect!!

I'm going to be cleaning my engine bay out and probably re-wiring alot of the loom this summer.. I'm going to archive this thread as it is now and hopefully we'll be able to keep adding to the active one ;)
