hmmm. my 91 alt on my 1st gen doens't drop voltage no matter wut. bassically because a voltage regulator doesn't alow it. if your voltage is dropping when you turn stuff on then its the regulator going bad.

when i turn stuff on my voltage goes up +.1 volts to a 14.9 max. my voltage only drop when my rpms drop below 500rpm.

Carl.

Woah, confusing... CarlRx7 | Rx7Carl... Two *completely* different people, but such similar names!

In any case.... Matty, which alt did you use. I noticed the original posting by dankus says that he had to use a "ford dual alt pulley", but doesn't specify which one.

I found a Buick Lesabre with the 3800 engine at the local part yard and really want to pick up the alt, but I want to know what I need to belt it up. The grinding I'm sure I can take care of, it's just the pulley which still confuses me. What did you use? I noticed the one that comes on the LeSabre is huge compared to our belts.

I believe it was off some ford truck, i just went to the alternator rebuilder, and asked him for a dual V-belt pully, he just dug one up, and zipped it on for me for free. if you bring it to an alt shop, they'll probably charge you 5 bucks max

Does it need to be dual? Does the belt go in the outer one?

It sounds like a good swap. How much grinding did you have to do to make it fit?

And why is abbreviation such a long word? ;)
