3pc wheel parts

Any wheel ****** out there that deal with 3pc wheels and know a good place to get some outer lips and inner barrels? I've found some places but I'm trying to figure out who is legit and who would be bad to go through due to bad business practices.

WheelFlip.com
AMCrimhalves.com
gmpperformance.com
tunershop.com
forgetechusa.com
americanrim.com
VRwheels.com

Some of these places have prices listed, some don't. But I don't really know anything about any of them and who would be legit to go through.

I'm getting the centers made and the CAD is being done right now, but he needs the specs on the rim halves I'll be using.

Has anyone ever gone through any of these companies or other companies and can point me in the right direction?

Here are links to the sites in the first post.

WheelFlip
Rim Halves
Tunershop - Wheel accessories - tuning - german wheels and tires - spacers - coilovers
https://www.gmpperformance.com/index...tList&cid=6235
Forgetech USA | home of outer lip inner lip 3-piece wheel 2-piece wheel replacement parts
American Rim Supply
http://www.vrwheels.com/index.php?ma...382133c4fb37ee

At the bottom of this article is a list of wheel companies...
Multi-Piece Wheels | EURO ALLIANCE

This thread has a plethora of wheel companies listed...
little known forged wheel companies

I think I've decided to get them from AMC Rim Halves or WheelFlip. I think they get the same parts, so if I go that route, even if one goes out of business or is shitty, I can get them from the other place. Anyone else have any info on this and can contribute?

From what I understand, CCW doesn't sell parts for wheels, just the whole wheel.

Thank you Speedjunkie for posting this. There is very little info out there about this.

I am trying to find a 17x9 reverse inner barrel. Anyone have any idea where to find one? Everyone is going to 18s now.

No problem. I know Zilvia is where most of the wheel ****** are, but I don't see why we can't get a piece of that pie too haha. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a wheel *****, but I appreciate their affinity for wheels. I tend to find something I like and stick with it for quite a while. But I'm trying to get the ones I've always wanted, custom made just the way I like. I'll stick with those probably forever, barring any complications like them breaking or whatever. But in order to do this, you have to hob **** with some wheel ****** to find the best place to source the parts lol. And apparently when the guy is done with the CAD, he's basically selling me the file so I can take it and get them cut, and I imagine if I break one I can just get another one cut. Although if it breaks I probably won't WANT another one lol.

I think most of those companies do 17" too. However, different faces from different companies sometimes have different measurements for the mounting holes, and also a different number of holes sometimes too. It seems like a lot of the Japanese companies use 36 or 38 holes, while most American companies use 40. Also, BBS lips for the RS have a much bigger step than, say, for a Work wheel. I've also noticed the step on a CCW is larger than normal, but that could be my mind playing tricks on me. I like CCWs, I'm just not crazy about that big step. So it depends on what face/center/forging you have, or at least what company it's from.

AMC Rim Halves is a supplier for Triangle Hard Alloys, which doesn't seem to sell to individuals. I've also read that AMC Rim Halves don't sell to individuals, but I haven't seen anything about that on their site so I may have misread that. WheelFlip said they get supply from Triangle as well, and they also have blanks that can be custom drilled and they manufacture their own 14-17" custom rim shells.

Here are a couple other threads about modular wheels.

This guy was/is designing his own set too.
VWVortex.com - Custom 3-Piece Wheel Design *PICS INSIDE*

This is a thread that explains them a little more in depth.
Wheel Building 101 (by B. Gorman))

I'm probably posting stuff a lot of people know already, but I didn't until the last month or so, so I'm just sharing what I've learned.

EDIT: I just checked the inventory at AMC Rim Halves and it looks like 17" inner barrels are mostly sold out, but maybe they can get some for you. I can't believe that SOMEONE out there doesn't have something. Just gotta look long enough to find it, and that part sucks lol.

CCW sells replacement wheel parts on their website. They have outer and inner barrels for all of their 3piece wheels. Click on shop on the website.

Oh I always heard they didn't sell them separate and I never saw that option on their site. Thanks!

I got my new lips and barrels from Wheelflip, if you are willing to wait nearly a year and harass Alex a lot over the phone, email, carrier pigeon...whatever you can find, then the price is not bad. I couldn't justify the cost in the end for how long it took and how much I had to bug him almost daily to see where my stuff was. If you are closer or even local, I am sure it is not as bad, being from a neighboring country it was tough to get my parts.

To be fair to Wheelflip, my offests and bore was not a regular Work, Volk, SSR etc setup so they "had to get custom work done", how much is true I don't know but my drill pattern of my wheels is slightly different.

CCW last time I talked to them only would supply lips and hardware for their own wheels, or wheels that are known to match up to their barrels and lips. Hardware is mad expensive no matter where you go though. I ended up getting all my hardware through a engineer friend of mine since I wanted black rather then the chrome that is usually offered.

I do have all my chrome hardware up for grabs if you need new hardware lol.

Thanks for your input! I had read about some other people having issues with WheelFlip, but I always like to get more than just one opinion about a place. That's also why I was looking for an additional place though. I'm not local to WheelFlip, so I'd probably have just as much trouble. I am closer than you haha, but still not local. I'm going to call AMC Rim Halves when I get a chance. And actually their prices look like they're the lowest I've found.

I'm not looking for any specific bolt or drill pattern or whatever. I just want something that is pretty standard so I can just order them and rebuild the wheel if I need to and not have to get anything drilled. I want to be able to order it and rebuild the wheel as soon as I get the parts.

I'm not really crazy about CCW's lips anyway. The step is just a little too big for my taste.

How many pieces of hardware do you have? lol I'm probably going to do 40 bolts on each wheel. If you have that many, I'd probably be down to take them off your hands. I'm not looking for anything flashy either so I don't really need chrome, but I haven't really decided against it either.

Thanks!

Ehrlich Wheel Works | BBS RS Specialists and more says they can source my 17x9 reverse inner. We shall see! I'll keep you updated.

Triangle Hard Alloys is another option as well.

Awesome! Good to hear! I've never heard of them or come across their site. I'm glad you posted that, it looks like they might have what I'm needing also. I'm gonna contact them. Thanks!

Look up American Rim Service in Vista, CA. I was with HRE from the old Hayashi Racing days and was there when the founder of HRE started Nutek back in 07. You want/need any three piece wheel info, I might be able to help out.

Fantastic! Thank you! I didn't find anything for American Rim Service, but I did find American Rim Supply. Is that what you meant? It's in Carlsbad, CA. I'm on a gov't computer right now so I'm not getting a good look at the website but I'll check it out on my computer when I get home.

I emailed Ehrlich Wheels and they got back to me. He quoted me $1400 for all the lips and barrels. He said the lips come polished. The dimensions he gave me for the bore leads me to believe these are also Triangle Hard Alloy parts, which would be a major plus. I asked him a few other questions but haven't heard back from him yet. No surprise though being the weekend.

Zak, I made a very crude pic on paint and I'm wondering if it's correct. Is this how you take the measurements?

You're correct, Supply instead of Service.
They are a manufacturer, but they should at least be able to tell you exactly where to buy individually.
Also look up Tai Chang, they're another manufacturer. They've got a warehouse, I think, in Pomona.
The pertinent information is how many pierce bolts and on what "bolt circle" just like the bolt pattern on your car. The mounting flange id is important too because you'll want that to be a "loose" slip fit with the wheel center to make sure everything is concentric.
The rest of the measurements are pretty much "standard" unless they tell you different.

Awesome, thanks! I'll look up Tai Chang too. So you want the face/center to be able to move a little within the flange when bolting everything up? Or you want it to fit tight?

Thanks for all this info, and thanks for posting it here for all to see! You're a wealth of information on this and posting this info here is exactly what I was hoping for when I started this thread.

I searched for Tai Chang but didn't find anything regarding wheels.

I also happened upon Serious Autosport in West Palm Beach, FL while doing a search and sent them an email.

Sorry about that, I'm used to dealing with the manufacturers directly, so as far as getting them retail, I'm a little clueless...

You want the rim halves to have a "slip fit" onto the wheel center, where they will assemble easily, but won't move.
