Welcome aerpof. If you can't find an answer here, you probably don't need to know it

What happens in situations like this - where you buy a car while on a posting abroad with the military and the car you bought isn't legal to register back home? I guess they just don't let you re-register it when it gets here. Although as I've seen, having a military ID gets you better service in a lot of places, maybe it even works at the DMV

Fixing up cars in Japan can be an issue as I'm sure you'll learn. I lived in Japan for two years at Yokota. JCI is the inspection a car must pass every "x" amount of years. Sometimes they get so strict that if your turn signals flash to quickly you'll fail (that happened to me) or if your tires / rims are larger than original you'll fail. Sorry to burst your bubble but just be smart about your mods. Good Luck.

What part of Japan are you in? I lived in Okinawa for 4 years while I was stationed at Kadena Air Base. That's where I got my hands dirty with Nissans. Heading back to Tokyo next year for the Tokyo Auto Salon for the first time since I left in 03.

Welcome
Where abouts in Japan are you located? What year is your FD and what do you plan to do to it?
Be sure to check out the "Far East" / Japan section on here for some info.
