Ok ... so I wanna take the race tires to an out-of-town event. I've tried and tried, but I can't figure out how you fit all four stock rims with 245/45 Victoracers into the FD at once. And no, I'm not putting a hitch on her ...

I thought there was a way to do this ... any one know how?

 

If you go to any tire center they should be able to mount tires on your rims.

 

He wants to know how to do a limo conversion to his car to fit all four tires and wheel mounted in the vehicle for transportation. hehe.

Don't know bro. I'd say you have to use try and fit one vertically behind the passenger seat, one vertically on the passenger seat, and possibly two in the trunk.

I'd say throw a roof rack on it and strap them down. j/k

I have no problems with the FC, I just keep the hatch a little open and bungy it down.

If you are not bringing a passenger, yank the passenger seat. That's what I did when I brought an extra tranny and related parts (and IC, Koni shocks, etc) to MZM a couple months ago for the auto/manual tranny conversion and Apexi single turbo install.

I had so much stuff in my car the rear end was sagging, but still left a S14 240sx standing still w/o trying hehe, going up 290.

 

Oh, and there is one hitch that is totally hidden once the drawbar is removed.

My bad for being dumb. Yeah fitting those would be a pain... Take out the pass seat, put two there, one in the hatch, and take that center part out maybe get another back there.

Edit... taking the spare out might give you some more room... if you have the bose system get that out of there too.

 

You can fit all four in the car two different ways:

1. One in trunk, two behind front seats, one in passenger seat
2. One in trunk, one behind front seats, two in passenger seat

I've done #2 several times and someone else told me about #1.

It is a pain packing and unpacking the car, so I ended up getting a small trailer used for $200 setup with a box and lights and bigger wheels. The trailer hitch was a little under $300 including installation and accessories from U-Haul. The little trailer is a much more convenient solution if you will need to haul race tires and supplies a lot. It is also a lot safer to have the wheels in the trailer rather than in the car where they can kill you in an accident. Do whatever you can to restrain them (seat belt, strap them in) if you put them in the car with you.

Dude, I would if I could. I'm talking about divisionals for SCCA Solo II. Every other car there is going to be running on Hoosiers. Can you say overmatched? As if racing against Z06's wasn't enough ....

I'm probably going to finish last in SS anyway, but I thought I'd at least make it a fair fight. (I usually like to race in street tire class .... more competition.) We'll see.

 

Bring a can of Track Claw with you... jack up your car...slather the track claw on your road tires with a brush...and watch your times drop Of course you have to be very sneaky, or else you'll get DQ'd (disqualified, not Dairy Queened) Track Claw softens the rubber compound. Of course the effect is temporary, but it should last the duration of the autocross event

 

You could get a bicycle rack that straps on the hatch and put a tire or two on there. I managed to get four 225/50 16 Khumo v700's on stock FC rims into my FC, but that's an FC and there's a lot more trunk space.

 

Find a Buddy w/ a PU and pay him to haul all your equipment to the track maybe even bribe him with some seat time.

Or go rent a PU and car trailer for the weekend and haul the fd to the track saves wear & tear on the fd and you don't have to drive it on the street with your race set-up. If you dont live too far from the track this should be much less exp. than buying a hitch & Trailer
