All 2nd gens are single turbo.

Whether it is worth it or not, how are we to know? Check the FAQ for the how to buy guides and then go over the car. There could be a zillion reasons why it does not start so if you can do some basic troubleshooting, check for fuel, compression and spark.

If it is not running you are buying a parts car, so $500 seems reasonable.

the worst case is it would be bown and need a rebuild and it could be as simple as a bad fuse to the ignition or a fuel pump
do a compression test that will tell what conditon the engine is in

well i talked to the owner. he said spraying starter fluid in the intake makes it fire a lil bit. so i guess that would mean spark is good. so leaves fuel problem poss. im sorry i said it was a tt. it said turbo II on it so i just assumed.. but anyway. so what would anyone suggest for next step on trouble shooting. i really doubt the guy will let me do compression test so its prob either buy it and hope for the best or dont, right?

Crank the car for a while and then pull the plugs and check for flooding. If the engine has fuel, and it also has spark, it may be missing compression or just be flooded.
