Bypass valve question FC3S

Hey guys,

I don't have a RX7.. but i do own a 1995 JDM V2 Subaru STi RA. I've been told that FC3S air bypass valve is a direct replacement of mine.... and it's made out of metal instead of plastic, which would hold boost better.

I was wondering approximately how much psi would it hold (small 16G turbo) with the FC3S factor bypass valve? Next question is where could I purchase one?

I routinely run 12psi with the stock bypass valve/BOV. I know some have overboosted up to crazier numbers like 20psi, so there apparently wasn't any leaking going on for them to reach those pressures. As for buying, when you have some more posts, the classified section will be available to you. For what it's worth, an FD bypass valve should be just about the same thing too.

Ah okay. So they ARE made in metal correct? And you're saying FC and FD bypass valve are the same?

The FC one is metal, but the FD may be plastic now that I think about it. But in functionality, they're basically the same thing.

EDIT: Found a picture of an FD bypass valve, and it is plastic.

Okay. The only reason I'm replacing my bypass valve was I wanted one made out of metal. I figured it wouldn't hurt before I turn up the boost a little bit when I get tuned with new EMS.

I guess I'll just have to rack up the posts so I can start posting on the classifieds.

Thanks for your help. Let me know if you see anyone selling their factory valve

That's a little overpriced. I've picked one up for $5-10, but it depends on the person.
