I bought a 87' turbo II off of a forum member on here at the end of November, the car had a hesitation at light throttle under 3k rpm.

Mid-wot under 3k rpm runs good and light-wot after 3k rpm it runs good as well, it idles good, pulls good vacuum, and pulls very hard.

Modifications... 550cc primarys 680cc FB secondaries, cone intake filter and a metal TID, FMIC, 3" custom turbo back exhaust that has a leak at the flange to the turbo, said to have a hybrid turbo, and a electric fan.

Engine thats in it came from Japan, and all the emissions have been removed.

Car was towed to JPR imports Dec 2nd. JPR replaced the TPS, had the injectors cleaned, checked for vacuum leaks, checked the wires on the wiring harness, tried another ecu, tried different injectors, tried different coils, and said tried swapping everything besides the wiring harness and its still showing the problem.

He wants me to get him a wiring harness, I am hoping this will fix it.

I was wondering if anyone here would have any suggestions or possibly have a wiring harness they would like to sell cause this is suppose to be my daily driver, I have been stuck inside for the past couple of months and need to get this thing fixed so I can work.

Stock ecu, yes

 

i had a problem just like this but it was an rtek ecu that was the culprit

 

I wont pretend to be a TII expert, most of my FCs have been NA, but I did not think you could get one to run great under all conditions with those mods and a stock ecu

 

So do you think if I got a rtek 2.1 that I could resolve this with a tune as long as the wiring harness is in perfect order?

It only has a fmic, exhaust, intake, and 680 secondaries. I would think the car should run fine under 3k rpm with these mods.

I had a FC that had a exhaust and intake and that ran very well.

 

Redo your grounds, helped out my 88 alot. I cant remember extactly where on the harness from the ecu they are all not far from the connectors but you do have to peel away alot of the tape around the wires, but there is (think) 2 black ground wires from the ecu that get split(into 2 more wires) and had electric tape and crap on it. It has a crimp connector without shielding on each of them and i soldered a 12g wire from each of those crimps and twisted them together and grounded it to the nearest screw and took all my hesitation away. There was a post but i have no idea where to find it since i remember searching alot of threads. Also redo the ground by the battery on the fender well and the ground from the firewall to the engine.

I cant say for sure, but once you increase fuel and boost I always thought you needed something to control it better.

I do know it would do you more good then bad and at least you could tune the car and run it safely to its potential

 

im not tech eather.. but even just a intake and exhaust should be retuned.. i would talk to enzo250.. im sure he could help you out

When our shop checks for vaccum leaks we use a smoke machine. After installing a new motor in my car I had trouble with a hesitation. Tried ajusting TPS. No luck. Hooked up smoke machine, found leak, problem solved. Just a thought. Ask em to smoke it

 

Right now I am in the process of trying to find another wiring harness since the shop believes the harness thats in it is no good since he said he tried replacing everything around the motor and nothing has changed its still producing the same problem.

So I am hoping another wiring harness will solve this so I can have a vehicle to drive.
