Hey guys!

My first REAL question on this forum so here goes....

I bought a Pinapple racing Yahoo belt and for the life of me cant install it??

It says for it to go over the main shaft and water pump pulley's but I have no idea how?

Ive taken the main pulley off as im sorting the squirters etc.

Can anyone give me some tips

I had one on my N/A and I had to put the belt onto the bottom pulley and then partly start it onto the water pump pulley. Then with a wrench I twisted the fan to work the belt up onto the pulley. It takes some muscle to do that is for sure. 1 question though, why not just use a double alt pulley and not have to worry about your water pump bearings wearing out prematurely.

I even have a double water pump pulley too :-(

I will do that instead I just assumed the Yahoo belt was better for reliabilty the car will be used for drifting but also e somewhat of a daily driver.

Thanks for the answer! do I just get another alternator belt? therefore running two in the ame pattern? and not do something stupid like wrap the yahoo belt on just the water pump and alternator pulley :P

wow, it seemed pretty simple and straight forward to me when I did it

just took off the fan and put the belt on, had to turn the pully a little to get it to sit right but it was really easy, no muscle really needed.

btw, you dont have to but the pineapple belt... any 3/8 in 22 in belt will work, 3L220 from most auto parts stores for about $5

and the doulbe alt pully will mess up a bearing way before a yohoo belt will

 

the belt itself just wont go on I can get it on the main pulley but cant get it to sit on the waterpump pully where a belt is supposed to go. It will however sit on the pulley itself if that makes sense near the screws for where a fan would be.

Any idead will host a picture up later its a green yahoo belt from Pinapple racing.

Your best approach would probably be to unbolt the waterpump pulley, slip the belt over the main pulley and onto the (still loose) waterpump pulley, and then slide it over the waterpump nose with the belt in place.

 

it takes some muscle to install it, but its not so hard.
I took the fan off, slid the belt on the main pulley, took a pry bar slid it under the belt half on the water pump groove, and I tilted the belt into the groove.

 

you have to walk the belt onto the pulley. get it lined up as best you can(not installed) then put a wrench on the crank pulley and turn it, forcing it to fall into the groove.

I don't see how this could be possible, when I had my "Yoohoo" belt on my N/A it was tight as hell, with my double alt pulley I have normal belt tension. Also to the OP if you end up using the dual alt pulley you would just need two alt belts.

 

maybe the pineapple "yoohoo" is tighter than the 3L220 goodyear I use because mine was just perfect

 

i did mine without takin the fan off. just get it on the bottom pully and then as much as you can on the water pump and kinda lube it with dish soap then get in the car and hit the key making the motor work with you. should slip right on

 

dont try to put it on by taking out pulleys
you have to "force" it on....

 

I second that, that was my method as well. With no problems for the past 3500 miles.

this "yahoo" or "engine saver" belt is the best and cheapest fix for the issue
