WV Throttle cables 1st gen

I rebuilt my carb, had some misalignments, and I am now looking for some specs on the throttle cables. How much slack, how taunt? In the shop manual, it only talks about the cable adjust for the Hot Start assist.

Ooh, this is hard to explain. Make it to where it isnt 'tight' but not so loose to where you have a dead spot in the top of the pedal. Hopefully that makes sense. Mine probably moves about 1/4-3/8 of an inch from resting to one side.

Thanks for the info, I could not find anything in any manual on this adjustment. The other problem I am having, I am a little lost on. Prior to the rebuild, when the choke was pulled, the engine reved up, now it does not. I am not sure what mechanism did this job. Is it the "Hot Start Assist" or the fast idle rod in conjunction with the bimetal spring. I checked out these items and all are in spec, Hot start assist relay, hot start assist motor, choke switch and magnet, choke relay, No. 1 and 2 water sensors. The hot start assist motor gets no power, can not find a blown fuse. I am at a loss.
