Angry Brake Rebuild/Brake Cleaner

A word of advice to anyone else who is rebuilding brake calipers: Do not use Brake Cleaner to clean the inside of the caliper bore. I did, and it ate a significant amount of the bore away. Now I have to buy a rebuilt caliper. Cheapest price seems to be Auto Zone at $39.99.

Depends on the brand of brake cleaner. The cleaner I use (Motomaster Premium Brake Cleaner from Canadian Tire) is very light and quite neutral. It evaporates quickly and doesn't seem to damage any surface.

I would have to agree that it does depend on the brake cleaner brand. It seems that some brands are more harsh than others.
