Exclamation input on buying this FD... seeking some guidance from the guru's

this car was for sale on ebay and the auction ended for the sale a couple days ago... i e-mailed the guy asking a few questions about the dyno sheet, tuning, rebuild, what he wanted for it since there was no "buy -it-now", ect. and he finally emailed me back with this...

"Hi there!

Sorry for the late response; something came up and I had to leave urgently on a business trip and I forgot my cell back home. I wanted to let you know that the car is still available.

I am selling it for $7700. The 1993 Mazda RX7 R1 looks like new; it has never been scratched or wrecked. The car is in great condition inside, outside and mechanically. It will come with a clear title, bill of sale signed by me as well and all the papers (including the original manuals and keys) that you will need to register it under your name. I want to sell it because I don't have much use for and I could use some quick cash right now, rather than waiting for a better offer (selling takes a lot of time too...). So I'm willing to let it go for $7700 and since I only have one, First come, First served.

Although I am not home, we can still make the deal through ebay. I have a purchase protection program with them (Condition Guarantee by Seller Program), so ebay will guarantee up to $50,000 for any vehicle I sell. Shipping is already paid, because I recently moved from PARADISE VALLEY , AZ to SAN DIEGO , CA and before leaving I have made arrangements to ship the car here to me in San Diego . Now that I am selling it there is no point in shipping it here anymore. The trucking company will not refund me in full but offered to ship the car anywhere within continental US, so I've left it at their warehouse and it's ready to ship at anytime.

Also, this purchase protection guarantees that the car is exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 3 days to inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs.

If you agree with these terms, please email me your shipping name and address so I can start this process through eBay and I will also get back to you with more details on how the ebay process works. You should know that it’s not necessary to be a registered user with eBay to benefit from their vehicle purchase protection program so don’t worry if you are not a registered user with ebay. I have more photos with the car hosted on the internet at the following link: http://s730.photobucket.com/albums/ww303/mymazdarx7wwe/

I await your email with the requested details if you are interested in the car.

Thanks"

does this sound like a scam to you?
when i told him i was going to be out in cali next month and wanted to take a look at it he said he wouldn't be able to since its currently with the shipping company.

i'll post the specs when i get them but it seems a lil too good to be true if you catch my drift...
also said it did 410 to the wheels, dyno to prove it...

Seller sounds like a scammer. From the pics of the steering wheel, its not an R1 model either.

yea as soon as i read that first line i already thought it was sketchy... that and he sent me a list of the mods he did to it too...

Apparently he can't spell greddy... that makes me comfortable..

"As you can see in the pictures this vehicle is in great shape. I will say 9 out of 10, and ready to be your daily driver. The car has 103,000 miles in the cluster but as you can see it looks like new! The car has a 1999 Spec rear spoiler.

The engine has been recently rebuilt. At this time the car is producing about 410hp at the wheels. I have a recent dyno test in hand if you want to see it! With all the components that this car has it is ready to be set up to more than 500hp at the wheels.

It is hard for me to sell it, but I have too many toys at this time and I can't keep them all.

You will see that there is a lot of $$$MONEY$$$ invested in this vehicle. Here are some of the upgrades in the car:

1. ACT clutch kit FC35 Extreme 6 puck sprung.

2. VIS RACING sports fiber glass hood.

3. Plug & Play MICROTECH LT-8s Computer & ECU hand controller & cable.

4. R-32 front mount GREEDY intercooler.

5. 0.81 presicion turbo T70 compressor.

6. FLUIDYNE aluminum radiator cooling system.

7. Dual custom oil coolers.

8. Engine is street ported and dowel pined with 3mm apex seals.

9.17x8 BBS wheels with Nitto drag radials in the rear.

10. Costom fuel rail.

11. #8 steel braided fuel hoses with #8 fittings.

12. Dual in tank fuel pumps.

13. TEIN lowering springs.

14. TOKIKO 5way adjustable shocks.

15. Front strut power bar R1 edition.

16. 3" inch down pipe.

17. 4" inch GREEDY cat back exhaust system.

18. RACING BEAT front sway bar mount, reinforcement strut.

19. GREEDY turbo timer.

20. GREDDY turbo boost controller.

I still need your full name and address in order for me to start this transaction!

Thank you

Jacob"

and asking for my full name and address just topped it all off

Ask him what company has it stored, and get the phone number to give them a call. If it's a scam it will probably stop right there.

A good rule of thumb: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

IMO any ad that says the car is not in my possession but I'm desperate to sell so you can have it cheap = a scam.
