Hello there!
A little about myself: I'm a US Marine, currently stationed on Hawaii at K-Bay on Oahu. I have a huge passion for cars, especially sport types, but you'll have to forgive me, as every vehicle I've ever owned before this one has been a Chevy. I recently came into possession of an n/a 5 speed 86 RX7, which was sitting down at the lemon lot here on base. It's silver, with a bit of rust here and there, which should be no problem to clean up. The interior has been completely gutted. Random electrical things need to be fixed, such as the speedometer, power window switches, headlight motors, and random interior pieces such as the vents. My biggest things right now are the rust (there are a few small rust holes) and the speedometer. It has a strut tower brace, and another which appears similar (the name escapes me) in the rear. New engine mounts have been installed and halogen lights have also been added. Dual exhaust, as well as an Apexi Super Airflow Converter II. I'm not exactly sure how to use it, or exactly what purpose it serves, but I'm bound to figure it out eventually. Anyways, I'm new to the board and I wanted to drop in to introduce myself.

This has got to be the tightest board I have ever seen.
I can't seem to post anywhere i would like until i make useless and random posts in areas for "new" people.
I am really sick of just being able to read and never post so I guess I will just start making random posts to get my count up high enough i can then post wher I really would like.
OLD7driver, you only have to get to 10 posts to use everything, it's just a SPAM filter.
'86Rx7HI, Any work that you've done on an American car, the same basic ideas apply
we just use whole numbers instead of fractions
rotary engines are a little different
you'll get the hang of it soon enough! I used to twitch when I'd approach 5k because I'm used to motors with somewhat lower internal velocity..
Either way, you picked the right place to come, everyone here is helpful.
the only real advice I'd give for the forum is to do a reasonably comprehensive search first

As far as the car goes, I've made the discovery that she's got some power! I pulled out last night, straightened out, and gunned it, shifted into second, broke the tires loose. The rear passenger side kicked out. Obviously there's no LSD. I've also come across some hella thick spark plug wires made by MSD. I'm not sure if it's my recently acquired ability to drive a manual or not, but the clutch seems incredibly touchy. I have to let off with a pretty high amount of effort and precision to keep it from catching and jerking the car, even while going down the road. Is this just me, or are they all like this? could it be an aftermarket clutch?
Now just to patch up some rust holes...

Thanks. I thought so.
