On a more SERIOUS note ...................what in tarnation is that thing ?? LOL , coming to think of it , it looks like a little A /L barrel type intercooler.

That may be the new bypass valve (recirculating) that they said they were going to produce... about 5 years ago, lol.

Yes, it does look kinda like a water pipe.

You would want one if your engine uses an airflow meter. If the BOV discharges metered air to the atmosphere, the engine gets less air than the computer expects, causing a momentary rich condition. This will cause some bogging between shifts.

You would also want one if you don't like the noise of a BOV vented to the atmosphere.
