Power FC just installed a power fc.
just installed a power fc.
so i was a little bored this morning (adhd) so i decided to install my power fc. on my 93 fd. i read the manual back and fourth. no big deal with the install. after installing it i started it and noticed that the idle was at 2400 and steady. i typically would tap the throttle to drop it down but that did not work. stayed at 2400 until it got to temp. then it idled down at about 1100. if you give it gas, it would flutuate from 600 to 1100 for about 10 or 25 seconds and then idle at 1100. while driving, there was a noticable difference in power and smoothness through the rpm range. did a few doughnuts and called it a day until i read the manual a couple of more times and get some info from the group.
any information will be appreciated to ease in tuning this thing. i do have a portable five gas analyzer to help in tuning but no availability to a dyno.
thanx, adam

idle
so i read some threads and found that there are a few wires that need cutting. also the tapping of idle is not due to a preexisting problem but the fact that these things idle so high when cold in stock configuration, i prefer to kick them down when first started in the morn. although i did put smoke to the intake and found that my primary injector seals are leaking. so i guess there is a preexisting prob. i do believe that the issue though is the wires that need cutting. i also just bought a datalogit and am awaiting for that to arrive.
You need to do more research before installing parts/altering performance before you go out and do your donuts. There's a diagram on here that shows which wires to cut.
Unless you're an experienced tuner, you may want to spend a couple of months or so learning about the Datalogit
or buy some notes...
