Painting car. what do you think of this color?

i got a free galon of this metalic green paint. so i figured i might as well try to paint my car that color.

paint job below was just a crappy fast paintjob to see what the color was going to come out as. it will be alittle different after primed and painted for correctly.

so what do you guys think?

Put some shiny coats on it

I always liked the look of metal-flake paints... not so much a green fan myself though

I'm not a big fan of green... If I used green though, I would most likely use something VERY glossy.

Clear coat will darken it up a little bit, but i think it would still need to be darker than that to look good on an FC. You could get a little bit of black/dark green toner added to your paint if you know the brand/product line.

no it won't. Depending on the clear coat you use it could give it a brownish/golden/ or oven yellow tinge, I think adding either one of those colors too it woulf make it look like puke. But, If you use something like a U-POL clear the color won't change @ all because its CLEAR

Do you have any body shop/painting experience? What are you basing this mis-information on?

Actually yes i do have experience. I paint for a living. And clear DOES give the paintjob a darker appearance. Here do this take a panel, sand the old clear in 1000 grit and then give it 2 more coats of clear. It appears darker due to the increased film thickness of the clear. Oh and u pol is garbage Sikkens autoclear 3 or DuPont 72200S is where its at. Adding those tinters either a low strength black, ot a dark gren transparant will darken the cast head on.
The easiest way to make that particular color darker would be to remove some of the metallics, but we cant do that to a mixed color now can we?? The only way to make it darker is to add some of the darker base pigments that would be in that color, and those would most likley be green black and blue.

sweet. that is exactly what i was thinking, that it needs to be darker. my friend is really good with mixing paint and stuff, so i will just have him do his thing and make it darker.

Green makes FCs look older, unless you got some body kit on it, and I'd paint the side moldings the same color as the body, I didn't see any pics but at least they are off the fender when painting them

i like the color, and i dont. thats why i asked becuase i couldnt realy tell if it was me just seeing the color right or wrong.. ( if that makes sence. )

and i am going to do what i want to do, but im asking so maby someone relizes' something i didnt think of.

Green makes FCs look older, unless you got some body kit on it, and I'd paint the side moldings the same color as the body, I didn't see any pics but at least they are off the fender when painting them.
i was going to do a s5 bumper with a lip some stance coil-overs and some polished or chrome rims, and i was going to fill in the dips where the moldings are now. becuase i dont have some of them on my car right now. or would it look better with them on.

( i dont think ive seen a FC with them off, can someone find me some pics of a FC with no moldings??)
