(Montreal) Looking for fair RX-7 garage

Hey guys, im trying to find out where to get some work done on my RX that would be fairly priced in the Montreal area, or around the city. Im looking to get my auto tranny swapped for a 5 speed, as well as some suspension issues. Could some one point me in the right direction?

Regads,
Ziplock

There are none but any good garage can do a transmission conversion and fix your suspension.

Hello

I dont have the nameof the place on hand but if you call one of the oldest Mazda dealers in the Montreal area Mazda Saint Constant they provided me with a Rotary Specialist. I have the card at my office some place and will look for it and post. They came recomended and only deal with Rotary's. As well and already mentioned www.clubrxquebec.com I am sure would have a few to list.

Hello ziplock

I read your post and I know how you feel. I was looking for a long time before I found someone who know`s rotaries inside out. But this guy I know lives in Vaudreuil and he only specializes in n/a and carburetor rotaries. I dont know if you plan to go for an n/a motor setup or wanna go to a turbo setup ? I actually did a complete swap myself from an 89 S5 n/a automatic to a 5spd turbo, complete conversion. If you want I can be of some assist to you. Rather if it`s changing parts, diagnosing a problem or performance tips. I`ve had my FC for a bit over 2 years now, I`m no specialist but I am an enthusiast with hands-on experience. And I know a tuning shop that has worked on rotaries before and dyno tuned them and all. I brought my FC to his shop in september to install my Haltech and dyno tune-it. If you wanna get in contact with me either send me a PM or I can give you my number (514)-296-6305 Roman.
Take care and good luck

There is one good mechanic that used to work on rotaries at St Constant but he may not be there anymore (it is the old Mazda in MTL area). Also Mazda Gabriel had an excellent one that I used to use when I had my 91 Turbo II FC, but he moved to another of their divisions. He still does work for them. You need to ask the service manager and he will direct you where to go.

The St Constant dealer is the one that gave me a business card of an RX specialist. Thats all they do at that place and it was called RX somthing. I will get the card form my office later today.

The only good Mazda dealers today are the ones that will direct you were to have the work done and only those two I would trust. If they want to do the work just like that with any mechanic then don't trust them. When I brought my 74 RX4 Coupe this summer to Gabriel they were shocked at what it was and looked like under the hood. All the mechanics were coming to check it out.

But, I agree the best place is club RX Quebec. The are very passionate about their Rotary's and help out anyone. they are online almost daily.

regards

One place I got info on

Hello,

Ok here is the place that Mazda St Constant recommended me to go to. Please note that I have no relation to the garage or its owners and employees. You will use them at your own discretion and should do your own research to see if they are "good and fair". I have not used them myself or looked into their reputation as of yet. They did come recommended by the Mazda dealer and the card was given to me by one of the head service managers. At least they were man enough to tell me they should not touch my car for what I was asking for and to go there. I would suggest posting it in club RX quebec and ask around.

I spoke to Francis a few times and it's true that he knows about rotaries (he knows more on FB's and FC's). Give him a call !

Regads,
Ziplock
I have been working on RX7s for 12 years, all models, and its now how I make a living. I also work on RX8s, but I am in no way an expert troubleshooter with these, yet. That will come in time. But no cut corners and no half-*** jobs. I have 2 sayings, "You never save minutes trying to save seconds" and "Cheap will bite you in the ***". Ie, I will never install a boost controller without supporting mods, even if a customer requests it, period.
So, if anyone is looking for a reliable rotary mechanic, do not hesitate to call. Also, I can easily understand that many may doubt my words as many people say they know their rotaries but dont. So for these doubting souls, I can provide many many references and/or links of jobs/swaps and mods I have done. All you have to do is ask.

Or take a look here for jobs I have done, you can find many under my login:

It would be a pleasure to work on your RX!

I am on the north shore of Montreal. I do have a website as of yet but you can have all the references you need here http://www.clubrxquebec.com/forum/. Please be my guest and look for projects I have made and cars I have worked on, or better yet, come and see for yourself, you are only 35minutes away.

Francis (Spectator) should be doing my engine swap in a few days. Coming from the Clubrxquebec, I can insure you that he is a trustable mechanic and he does know a lot (if not everything) about our rx-7's.

I can give you a better feedback after the job is done, but I'm positive it's going to be all good

BTW, spec, the URL you posted 2 posts ago ( http://www.clubrxquebec.com/forum/me...astposter&f=30 ) links to Chacal3001's profile. I beleive that's not what you wanted)
