i got the Apex-i boost kit as well, but i read on other threads that the kit is not as great as using a stand-alone boost controller.

so can i just replace the factory 2 bar w/ the apex-i 3 bar alone w/out having both and installing the rest of the kit? or is it a must to keep the 2 bar and 3 bar for the PFC ?

if so, what pfc setting do i need to change for just replacing 2 bar to 3 bar? I tried doing a search on 3 bar map sensor setting, but couldn't find a clear direct answer...

you need to set to option1 of PIM scale.

We found no problem in tuning our cars with Apexi Boost controller. No boost- spikes or anything wrong. This was done up to 18 PSI,

Alright, I installed a GM 3 Bar Map sensor on my car and now the boost is reading -312mmhg when the car isn't turned on. When I turn the car on and give it some gas and am looking at the fuel cell map it doesnt move vertically down the cells, only across. Anyone know what happened, also is this something that will not allow me to drive it to a tuner to get it fixed? Also I'm guessing the closest datalogit to me is about 600 miles away so thats not a possibility to use one myself or anywhere near me.

Ok, I checked the car and it does move along the vertical axis of the map cell tracer. But now whenever I rev the engine it dies at about 3k, anyone know whats going on?

this is prob due to the voltage difference between the sensors.
did you switch the pim sensor like Iwan said?

also, not sure if changing the pim wil also allow the maps to be correct, because the left side of the charts just change to having a max of ~2bar instead of ~1.

Well, I went into the PIM settings and hit next on option 1, is that all I'm supposed to do? Maybe mine just isnt working because before I went to the PIM option 1 it said -500mmhg and after I clicked on it it said -312 mmhg, strange. I dont know what the problem is, atleast I have a couple months before I try to get it tuned.

Go to this thread, read it and similar threads, then calibrate your sensor.

haha, that's funny. I have looked at many posts, but all need the datalogit to calibrate the sensor if I remember correctly. If I run it like it is right now it won't give it nearly enough gas right? If so i guess I will just have to try to put my old sensor back on....(I knew I shouldn't have cut the wires so close to the connector) and then drive it to the tuner and have them calibrate it. But i am correct in thinking it would be super lean, right?

I just turned 62 and short term memory has gone out the window!
Ah, what were we talking about?

You need a Mini Vac, Air Compressor, Accurate Pressure Gauge, Mini Pressure Regulator, DL, and Brians software.

That is incorect, as Iwan verified. What you heard.read is misleading. Using the 3-bar map sensor alone, does not a kit make as i've said over and over. Some people think all they have to do is get a used (or new) Nipendenso (Apexi) solenoid and that equals the boost kit ..."wrong". Again, using a GM 3-bar + Denso solonoin does not = Apexi boost kit.

Optional boost kit consists of 3-bar map sensor replacing the 2-bar but the 2-bar is retained and connected to the side port of the PFC. Since it's controled by the PFC, I would imagine it's considered an electronic bc allthough it is a single solenoid.

I am extremely happy with the optional kit. I have never had boost spike nor creep. It is allways perfectly acurate (unlike my Atometer). It installs cleanly without any wire splicing and I dont' have aditional stuff I need to shove under the dash.

Apexi optional boost kit =

You have been PMed.

I wish I could remember all the stuff that I learned over the years working on cars.
But I have been a Mazda freak since 1979.

Could anyone do a how-to on how to merge the GM 3 bar MAP sensor inthe PFC system so it reads correct values?

I know you guys are swinging around with Excell sheets etc. But for most of us that's just Chinese... or beter.. Japanese

The Apexi Boost Control Kit is an optional kit designed to control boost through the Apexi Power FC. Simple connection to the Apexi Power FC allows the user to access a full self-learning boost controller. The Apexi Power FC allows up to 4 different boost presets for any stage of driving. The high grade solenoid valve is the same one used in our Apexi Super AVC-R boost controller. As with the Apexi AVC-R, the Boost control kit allows increased boost response and boost stability at high RPM's

I think I'll get one. It's $290 delivered to your door through nengunperformance.com
