My buddy is about to take a month long trip to Austrailia, and he wants to be able to stay in touch with the USA by phone (he is trying to sell his house over here, and needs to stay in touch with his realtor.) He knows that his USA cell phone will work in Austrailia, but his company will charge him US$ 1.70 per minute. I suggested that maybe he could buy a disposable cell phone over in Austrailia, and maybe it would be cheaper in the long run than using his phone over there.

How much does a disposable cell phone with international USA call capability cost over there? How much would that work out to per minute?

As far as a mobile phones that can make international calls to USA, you can purchase a pre-paid mobile for around $69 that would allow international calls. It would cost you around the 80-99cents per minute international call to USA. Unsure if this is the info you were after? We have Vodafone/ talstra/Virgin/ Optus availaible and a few smaller companies.
