I have a set of Öhlins coilovers with Eibach springs, they are not new but in pretty good shape.

The problem is that I didn’t get a manual on how to put them in my US RX7 FD3s -93.

Is there anyone on this site that recognise the type, and know how to assemble them properly???

They are marked:
Front Left =CH9-S010L-80
Front Right =CH9-S010R-80
Rear =CH9-S0200-80

Are they pre-assembled already? Are the springs on the shock bodies along with the top mount or are they completely disassembled and in several pieces? If they're already together, they can only go in one way and it sounds like they're already marked left and right. It'd be as simple as taking out the old shocks and sticking the new ones in. Once in, you'll need to corner weigh your car and make adjustments to height if they're height adjustable units.

I got the coilovers apart and I didn´t get any topmounts. The guy i bought them of said he used the OEM upper mount?

Yes, you can use the stock top mounts. Just make sure to take photos and understand how the top mounts go together before completely taking them apart. It's easy to put the shims in upside down. Are all the spring rates the same front and rear? You'll need to figure out which is which. The Japanese tend to run the same f/r spring rates whereas the U.S. tends to run higher rates in front. The spinning collars....the top one is where the spring sits. The second collar on the bottom locks the top one into place. So you slide the spring over the shock body and rest it on the perch, like in the rear shock furthest right. The first two, from left, are front shocks. The two on the right are rears. They need a good cleaning! Once you get the springs on the shocks, I'd take a measurement and make sure the fronts are the same height. By spinning the collar so it goes up the shock body, you raise the car. Spin it down to lower the car. Start off by making the left to right measurements the same. Once they're on the car and the car is lowered, adjust them so there's a similar gap between the tires for a baseline. Once that's done you'll need to make sure nothing is rubbing and then have the car corner weighted and aligned by a shop. IMHO, don't go too low as you loose shock travel and handling. Hope that helps a bit!

 

I just noticed the front shock, second from the left, is compressed more than the one next to it...If you look at the rod poking out the top, it's shorter than the one just to the left of it. I'd make sure it isn't blown and it's still working correctly.

Yes i now that´s one of the front shocks are not OK, when I was trying to figure out how they worked I loosened one of the bolt´s and GAS poored out.

I will have checked/renovated by a shop.

Something that´I think i strange is that it´s only possible to compress the rod 1-2 inches?

Yeah they should be fairly stiff as they have to control hundreds of pounds on each corner of the car. Since you're in Sweden, it should be fairly easy to have them rebuilt! Make sure to have your springs tested to see what spring rate they are as well.

 

Ok, I have made som phone calls here in Sweden and it´s not absolutely sure that any company in Sweden can repair them!

Öhlins was bought by Kawasaki a few years ago and when that happend thay also took some production to Japan.

But i will hope for the best, thanks for the help!

The springs are marked with different two are marked 200 and two 220.

has this affected quality a lot? at least its japanese, instead of made in china or taiwan like most of the japanese sold products

 

you bought these from oakland fd didnt ya?? I was gonna buy em, but then got a price to rebuild em = $450 per. if they used auth ohlins valving. he wouldnt say if they were blown so i said forget it...

I now have my chocks back after rebuilt, the cost was about 828$ for all four.

But now i´m looking for other topmounts! I wold rahter use new once instead of using the stock top mounts.

Could someone recommend som new topmounts.
