difference between s4 fenders and s5 fender?

what is the difference between the two? I plan on doing an s5 conversion on my 88 t2, i plan on just changing the front bumper and leave everything the same, but except paint the moldings white to match up with the car, but then people say that the trims won't match up? So then i plan on using s5 moldings as well but then it is told to be clip on? I'm i suppose to punch holes onto the car to fit the s5 moldings?

The trim on the S4 and S5 differ, S5 is color matched and S4 isn't. It would look funny with an S5 bumper on an S4 car.

S5 trim is a different style than the S4 trim so it would look a little odd, you would need to replace the trim with S5 trim mouldings. as far as i have seen the trim is just double sided taped to the body.

I've been thinking about doing this also. I have an offer of S5 bumpers(front and rear), turn signals and all trim pieces available for about $300. Do you guys think its worth it? Also, about the S5 trim, is there any other way to keep it on the car besides tape? This is interesting.

Assuming all the pieces are in good shape, then 300 sounds like a pretty good price to me. I've seen a single bumper alone go for 150+

I believe the fenders bolt up differently between s4 and s5, as in where they bolt up in the engine bay and such. not 100% sure about that though...

I have s4 fenders on one of my s5's...they bolt up just fine... so it should be fine the other way too (s5 fenders on an s4).

S5 molding has clips on the back... but you can break them off and use double stick tape to mount them instead of drilling holes in the fender

I've mounted trim with a hot glue gun. Low risk, sticks good, and if you do something wrong you can peel it off without worrying about damaging anything. You need to be quick as hot glue dries in seconds. Fortunately you get unlimited retries. The downside is that the glue might be too weak, but mine's held up so far.
