Cool Which oil filters do you guys use?

Which brand of oil filters do you guys use?

I have been using FRAM and just recently found out that their quality is really crappy and am looking to see what you guys think.

Check out this link that compares all brands of oil filters!!

I too use the Mazda filter in my RX-7 and the Toyota filters in my Lexus and Truck, but it appears they did not test any of those.

I have used the Napa Gold filters in my domestic cars before, so its nice to see they rated medium good.

Cool unscientific test.

Is it just me, or does this topic come up once a month without fail?

Amsoil or Mobil

I have also seen the oil filter comparison, which is what prompted me to go with Mobil or Amsoil filters. Both have a microscopic metal screen element, not paper.

Here's my reply from the last time this was asked:

I've used Amsoil filters for years.
I'd never use the Mazda filter. While I'm sure it's good quality, it's tiny! Obviously the bigger a filter is the more contaminants it is able to remove before the filter becomes blocked enough to reduce flow. I've seen tests where these now-common baby-sized stock filters are clogged enough to operate the bypass valve (passing unfiltered oil) BEFORE the factory recommended change interval! A much bigger quality filter like Amsoil or K&N is a much better idea.

if you want to run a larger filter, use a KL mazda V6 filter. Same size, but taller.

Wix Racing filter. 1 quart filter on remote mount. Works great.

K&N filter, i dont know if its much better thatn others but it does have that nifty nut on top so you can use a wrench to get it off if you are having problems.

Purolator Pure One or OEM. Wherever I'm at when I remember to buy one (not always near the dealer and never think to buy more than one at a time).

And thanks for reminding me, it's time to change the oil in all the car's in the household (mine and my mom's).

really? When I would change the oil on the V6 Probes I used to have the filter was always quite small. Maybe I should have looked at other brands.

I use the K&N, and am very happy with it compared to me oem filter 7 & my napa gold filter. The oil is a lot cleaner with the K&N. But yeah my dad uses a bigger oil filter to make sure it doesn't get clogged on his truck, just find a bigger filter that will fit on ur 7. I didn't noticed but is the K&n bigger than the oem filters?
have any of u guys ever had problems with some brands of oil filtes?
