Without the sleeves the actuators are useless. You could remove the sleeves and keep the ACV and air pump so your VDI would work still. Your question is kinda unclear. The model of your car would help alot also. Searching some of the older threads would probably answer your question in great detail. Try searching under the word "sleeves"

sorry it's an 87 w/o vdi. why wouldn't they work w/o the sleves would ther not be a seal for the back preasure to actuate? or would it not bolt up because they are bolted to the sleves? or how much low end do you lose with them just removed is it equivalent to wireing them open? sorry if it's unclear i thought i was being clear basicaly i want to remove my 6 port sleves and then reatatch the actuators so that they open properly so i can have a little extra flow when they do open

the actuators only job is to turn the sleeves. So without the sleeves the actuators do nothing. The sleeves are what give you the extra bottom end.

Nope - your sleeves **should** rotate in the intake port. I tore my engine down and noticed my 5/6 port sleeves were stuck closed. Could be what contributed to the apex seal breaking on the rear rotor - running too rich at high rpm --> excessive carbon buildup --> crack!!!
