I know this has been covered a couple of times over the past year or so, but I thought I'd post some pics of my head unit I just purchased. Plus I figured some people may not know about this and it's a cheap alternative. It has a front aux input, which means you can connect it to any MP3 player(I use it for my IPOD). I paid $85 for the head unit shipped to my door and prob. $4 for the aux cable from Wal-Mart. The results? I have 3000 songs at the touch of a button and the spin of a wheel So I'm going to go over a quick list of pro's and con's

Pro's:
-Cheap
-No more CD's everywhere in my car
-easily accessible
-MP3 hook-up

Con's:
-Doesn't display song name on screen of head unit(doesn't really bother me, it doesn't when I have a CD in either)
-Have to turn the volume up a little more when I use the AUX(once again, no big deal)

All in all, well worth the $90 and the 15 minutes it took to install the stereo. It looks alright and does it's job. I didn't buy the car to put a great sounding stereo in... I bought it to go fast and look good. This is just a practical mod. Let me know if anyone has any questions

 

i have that same deck in my tempo its actually pretty decent i like the fact that i can plug my MP3 into it

 

You drive an FD and you can't afford to do it the "right way".

My iPod is hooked up using a "Blitz" connector that routes via the stock CD-changer cable, none of the typical aux-dis. and I'm still rocking the factory head unit. (This is in a Golf, I doubt RX-7s have factory CD-Changer cables).

 

He's DRIVING a FD, driving a FD takes enough money in maintaining it (hopefully not repairing). At least he's driving it and it's not a garage ornament. To me, that's the right way.

 

Do you even have an FD? I have an Explorer Sport trac that I put an IPOD2CAR interface in, and it works great as well. Believe me, I can "afford" to do it the "right way". However, I don't give a damn about spending money on a stereo. Thats just less money I can spend on gas for my boat for wakeboarding. To me, the purpose of my stereo is to play music and sound halfway decent. It works for me. Just sharing a cheap alternative with others. Thats what the forum is all about. Please enlighten me why this isn't the "right way"?
