Can a Koyo Rad fit with FMIC?
Can a Koyo Rad fit with FMIC?
I'm planning to get a Koyo Rad to replace my factory, I know it's a bit bigger than the Fluidyne, will it be a problem if I'm going for the FMIC later?? Any fitment problem? or I should go with Fluidyne for the safe side... Thx
The only "problem" with the Koyo is that it's thicker and slightly taller because the tanks are made out of aluminum rather than plastic. I have the BLITZ FMIC which requires movement of the AC condensor and rad/fans and I did have to make one bracket out of aluminum for the Koyo because it was so much thicker and slightly taller than the stock one, so the BLITZ bracket for the stock one wouldn't fit (it goes across the top to strap it to the intercooler). I'd assume this "problem" would occur with any "stock fit" aluminum radiator because they are all a little thicker and all aluminum to make them more efficient.
I guess in the end it depends on how much effort you want to put into it and what FMIC you choose. There's no one answer, but that's my experience with the BLITZ and Koyo.

I'm using the 1st generation GReddy FMIC with the Koyo. Installation of the FMIC did also require the A/C condenser to lay almost flat & the radiator to stand up to a more vertical angle. Sizewise, everything fit perfectly with no contact to anything including the rad fans. The only fitment problem I had was the two posts on the bottom of the Koyo did not exactly line up with the stock holes they should fit in. I had to modify the brackets slightly.

It'll work, it'll just take a little bit of customizing. You can make anything fit if you're creative enough. Go to Hope Depot and buy a nice big roll of duct tape

. No, the battery is in the stock loation, but is now turned 90 degrees so the radiator can fit now that it's more vertical.
