Exclamation San Jose: My RX-7 Stolen! :(

Yesterday my 1988 rx-7 gxl was stolen from in front of my house. It's a dull light grey color that is flaking off in spots showing the original brave blue. It looks almost like primer. I thought I'd post it here in case anyone sees it. Please PM me if you do.

Thanks

I live south and west of the intersection of 101 and 280.

Update: My wife talked to the police this morning. They said there is a gang operating in the area that has been stealing a lot of cars. Most of them are recovered with stuff missing (stereos and the like), which gives me hope. Also, the police said they're taking this very seriously and cracking down hard on the people doing this. Apparently they've been mostly targetting Hondas and Toyotas. So if you live in the area, I'd suggest parking in your garage if you have one available.

Also, I forgot to mention before that the car has a black sunroof. If anyone in the area sees the car, please call the San Jose police auto theft people first 408-277-4051.

Thanks Again

Yup, my dads Honda Accord got stolen from the Great Mall a few weeks ago. They found it in Oakland, with the stereo missing and it appears they tried taking off the rims. To bad it had wheels locks. I don't know, grand theft auto for a radio. That's jail time, if they get caught

Stupid *** cops gave it a parking ticket 2 days before they "found" it in the same spot. Freaking idiots.

Lame. You poor dude. o_o Don't FCs have weak locks or something? I read something a while back about the mechanisms being easy to jimmy or break. Maybe it would be worthwhile to replace or reinforce them somehow.

Anyway, good luck on getting your car back. I think I'll be buying full coverage in the meanwhile.

3rd generation Rx7's were the only ones that came with superior locks from the factory. My friend locked his keys in one and it took the locksmith about an hour to get it open. Sorry about what happened to you car man, I'll definetly keep an eye out for your FC as I live near the intersection of 280/101.

now that ******* suuuuuucks. my beater 96 civic was stolen early this year from the oakridge mall parking lot, second level. we wanted some footage BUT the ************* weren't rolling tape (was there something legal i could have done there??). anyway, the feeling of losing something THAT big and having no trace of it licks *****. hard. after that, paranoia kicks in EVERYWHERE, especially with my FD. took my system, my battery, rims, intake, AND FUSES, WHO THE HELL TAKES FUSES?!! theives are the ones i hate with a passion, can't stand them. the car was recovered in Campbell, near that real good pizza place, i forgot the name. i wish i would have seen who did it, the **** wouldnt be here right now. they also said that about this theft, it was a gang scheme going on. i hope the best for you and your car man, the feeling sucks, i know.

I had thought that the common key thing only worked if your locks were gunked up and a tumbler or two were stuck. I had no idea there were that few different keys made.

Anyway, the car is still missing. And on top of that, my Camry shouldn't be on the road and my motorcycle started leaking gas from one of the carbs. So my wife and I are down to one functional vehicle between us. I want to know if the pissant(s) who took my car intentionally targetted the house with the oldest and crappiest looking cars on the block. Seriously, what kind of f-ed up person looks down a street, sees a bunch of nice late 90s and 00s cars and SUVs in peoples driveways, and steals from the one house with cars that are all 1990 or older and have obviously seen better days?!?!

Sorry, had to rant.

Oh that sucks!

My '79 was parked in the street during construction. It only took a few days before someone smashed a window. I still have the car but I hate parking it outside.

Recovered!

The car was found last night. Apparently it has spent the last couple months in an apartment complex parking lot... with the sunroof open. On the plus side, it looks like the only things stolen were my CDs and the disc changer cassette they were in. They left me with a lot of trash and on wet & moldy interior.

Anyway, I'm glad to have it back, even if it will cost me a pretty penny to get the interior cleaned. Now I'm going to always use a club and install some other obscure anti-theft device(s).

Cheers all and thanks to those who wished me well!
