NORCAL 7 - event's and merchandise

Does anybody think that we can gather better support if we met up on a bi-weekly basis? With that in mind... plan more events like fun runs, treasure hunts, car races/shows or bowling?

I noticed that everyone likes to sport Rotary based t-shirts at meetings. So who are the artists out there? I've got some skillz but I'd like to see what idea's we can generate for things like club t-shirts. Maybe something that says...

NorCal 7's
rotary club

...and has a design/pic on the backside. There's a place at the Yuba City Mall that can make 'em. If folks are interested then let me know. I'm sure we can design a t-shirt and keep the price down to around 10 bucks.

I'd be down for a treasure hunt/rallye type event. I've done a match time rallye before w/ a car club on the central coast, and it was a good time (prize for fastest overal time and for closest to the secret pre-set time). It takes alot of organization though, and a good knowledge of roads around here. I'd offer to set something similar up, but the trouble is I don't know where the fun twisty little roads around here are. I know where some nutty roads are in the central coast area, but I doubt anyone wants to drive down there just to drive on those.

We got some way nutty touge-style roads here in Sonoma County....

I do think that the monthly meets should stay like they are, but it also would be a good idea to have a secondary event or something during the month. Fun runs, drag strip nights for those of you into that, and as always AutoX meets during the summer months.

As for the T-shirts, there is a forum member that is ready to make shirts for us as soon as we can get him a design. I'd really like to see the growth of this club continue.

ESCA has autocrosses every month over the summer. I have worked it out with them so that the RX7 club members do not have to attend any meetings in order to join. just fill out the application on the website (www.empiresportscar.org) and email or snail mail it in. Membership is 18 bucks a year for singles and 20 bucks for a couple...

We probably have some of the best track layouts for an auto-x eVAR!
Here's some pics--------

Okay... I've read all the posts so far. Zach, I know ur one of the OG's here so keep things on point.

I'll put myself out there to help plan a ralleye or treasure hunt type event. I have all sorts of roads mapped that are fun twisties and scenic too. Sounds like others have already done it so I can use help with ideas or rules. I have a few ideas of my own too.

On the subject of T-shirts. I have sketched out 6 designs for front and back overlays and a polo shirt design as well. I have to fine tune the designs before posting but this is what I have so far....

1. ROTARIES ONLY - No Parking design for backside of Tee
- design is based on a "photo negative" style. basically, the lines and lettering is broken not solid
2. 3 generations of rotaries - "iron-on" style for backside of Tee
- solid square pic of 3 pics of cars.... FB, FC and FD with 3 generations... words above and below pic
3. NORCAL 7's - large backside design on Tee
- large slant block lettering saying NORCAL with an super large number 7 underneath. the 7 is a angular slant design that is outlined
4. NORCAL 7's logo for front left breast of Tee with a rotor behind the first two letters in NORCAL
5. NORCAL 7's rotorary club - same as above but with "rotary club" in small fine lettering below the NORCAL 7's logo
6. ROTOR - simple rotor pic with or without "rotary club" in small fine letter. design can include "rotary club" on bottom of left sleeve. this design is also good for a polo shirt.

If folks like my ideas then I will fine tune and post sketches on here or send as private messages <to keep the copy cats at bay>.

Evan

Hey Evan, what's a rotorary club? Look at #5. Anyway, those ideas sound pretty good to me. Like using NorCal 7's on the front left of the shirt with a rotor behind the lettering, then using the pic of all 3 different gens on the back of the shirt. Pretty much all of your ideas sound good to me though.

zach has jokes eh?

well.. nader if ur vouching...lol ...then tell me guys... what do ya need to get the t-shirt design started? i can provide some sketches just not sure how detailed they should be.

i can probably take digital photos of rough sketches and email the finer points of my ideas.

i came up with 3 more sketches tonite. i tried to throw something at the opposite sex.
1. "Chicks dig guys with rotors" with pic of heart inside of rotor
2. same pic but with "rotory chick" in small print all around the outer edge
3. last one is a pictogram. basically the pics suggest:
stick guy + stick girl = heart
stick guy + wedge car = rotor

yea...I vouch for herrafass as a designer.

Shaun (herrafass) couldn't make it to the BBQ but hopefully he'll be able to hit the X-Mas meet. We can chat in detail about it then but in the meantime, maybe he can come up with a few designs...

I'll talk to him tomorrow...

Evan, I doubt that the chicks dig guys with rotors thing would really fly. You have to remember, the girls in the NorCal club, for the most part, are willing to work on the cars themselves. But who knows. We need some female input in this thread!

First one I made up using paint shop and an inverted picture. The other one I came up with at school.
