Who's Turbo II is running fine?

I think turbo II's are way underrated when people say they are a maintenece *****. So if your turbo II runs fine with out major problems then post up so people can see that not everybody has their TII in the shop every week.

Well mine isnt running perfect, but the only things that need to be fixed are user caused . Mine I've put 30,000 since I bought it in March of '00. Its gone through two trips to wisconsin hauling 300lbs of cargo not including driver and passenger while beating up on camaros and C4 vettes all the way through michigan and getting 26mpg on fill ups I didnt get on it much .
Still has the original clutch and suspension that I really need to replace. Also has a giant exhaust leak between the downpipe and turbo from me snapping one of the studs off. Stock turbo with ported and backcut wastegate as well as match ported runners and twin scroll removal. Car also has the TB mod, regrounded almost everything. Also has 3" downpipe, hollow cat, and POS midas catback the previous owner installed.
This car when I first got it ran 14.5 @ 96mph with only a hollow precat. It ran a best of 15.1 this year with the stock clutch slipping and a passenger. oh, and one last thing. 99.9% of the electronics work. Wiper switch on all levels, heater on all levels. The one electrical problem that I need to tackle soon would be the passenger window gets real slow for about a cm halfway up, then back to normal speed.

Sorry for the length

Also for those wondering I got the car with 62k and she now has 92k

My T2 ran awesome untill it blew. only problems I had were with the clutch hydrolics which are the same on the n/a's. Turbo II's are only a bitch when you get to modding, you have to be extremely careful.

mines fine, only thing that I've *had* to do in the last 1.5 years is change the rad that started leaking and the belts that looked pretty old. but right now my water pump is leaking too.

of course I've changed lots of other stuff too , but didn't have to.

Mine runs good. Previous owner did some nice stuff, like a ported rebuilt motor, fuel pump, injectors, computer, intake, exhaust. Only complaint is that the idle is a little burbleish, but I understand that's the norm on a ported motor. It's weird, when sitting on high idle it goes bwaaaaaaaaaa pp bwaaaaaaaaaaa pp bwaaaaaaaaa
like it's missing on one or something. It goes away one the car has been revved a little and warmed up and is idling at normal speed.

Needs some new wheel bearings and a new suspension (like some ground control, awe yeah)

My tII runs great but I had to put about 150 hours of TLC into it. I resoldered everything, put a new fender on, new alternator, new belts, new airfilter, plugs, wires, fuel filter, TPS adjustment, Numerous intake leaks, SMOG TEST, tires, unsiezed the brake calipers, new brakes, rotors cut, reground a few components, change the oils, ATF trick. Most of the stuff was just time consuming, guess thats why I got the car so cheap as it is my "toy" in the driveway. Original engine, tranny, dif, axles.

Its been a tough 2 months for my rx7 but I can actually rely on this vehicle now. I am happy with my purchase, cant wait to whip some American Muscle this summer!

Mine has 106k on it with most of the original parts, cept for the mods I did. I just changed the water pump and starter recently. It is my daily driver that sucks gas, but extremely fun to drive.
It has some of the electrical problems(wiper, window, shift up, 3.8k hesitation) that I still need to fix, but I love to work on it. I have done everything myself since most places are scared to work on it, or charge an arm and leg to fix anything.

My TII runs absolutely perfect. Perfect idle, good boost (albeit not perfect , still need that DP), done a full tune-up just in case, had to replace clutch and brakes (they were worn ), but all's good...

just some tiny little things: need DP and catback (Y-pipe has a small hole), need wiper-switch fix the sunroof needs some -minor- assistance, but thats about it......oh, and I get real SHITY gas mileage

On average, how long (mileage) will a TII engine last?

From 0 to 150K maybe, until the engine starts losing compression BAD....the apex seals DO get worn you know...

then its either rebuild-time, or new engine (of course, no new engines for a car 10 years old...)

so the general word, according to this thread.. is that they ARE a maintenance ***** ie. blown engines, new water pumps, new tps, clutch, coolant seals, vacuum leaks, electrical probs... oh! but the actual turbo seems to be maintenance free!
