Rating Gasoline (no, not octane)

Hmm . . . . . . Car and Driver runs and article on gasoline quality . . . . . . . . blah, blah, blah, there’s some outfit called Top Tier Gasoline that rates fuel in the US . . . . . . hmmm . . . . . and Exxon Mobil’s not listed as a Top Tier fuel? One of the finest synthetic oil manufacturers available and their gas is less than Top Shelf? Here’s the list of allegedly good brands.

QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.

Who the heck is Quik Trip gasoline? Texaco allegedly sux too?

are they rating performance of gasoline? or how clean the gasoline burns? because Cheveron is certainly good for clean burning fuel... but performance I dunno...

I use chevron, because it's closest to my house, and they're all over the place. I hear it's best to stick to one brand gasoline.
Also, the guy I bought my fd from said he had to have the fuel air sensor replaced, and the dealership that replaced it (yea dealership, he was an old rich guy) suggested chevron. ive been using it since i bought the car so i have no comparison, but i havent had any fuel air sensor problems.
Oh yea, and my dad said when he got his truck (98 dakota) he filled up a full tank at each different gas station in town, and he says it runs best on chevron.

So i say shell! No jk chevron definitely... the extra 1 or 2 cents per gallon is worth not having to spend a dollar on gas just to get there, if nothing else.

i noticed my car runs smoother thru the powerband with shell gas over all the others. I dont notice it in my FC. But with the FD i do, this is back when i had stock twins, intake, exhaust, and the powerfc.

you probably wouldnt notice unless you drove the car and got on it everyday
