Drivers School at Bremerton 10/8
Drivers School at Bremerton 10/8
Bremerton Sports Car Club will offer a Novice School Saturday, 8 October 2005
There will be a 50 student limit and the costs generally cost less than $50
You generally get about five or six hours of time on five different track configurations with an instructor available to you. The day starts with a hour of classroom discussion about the physics of driving fast, the apex of a corner and such. Then we head out to the different tracks. Lunch is generally included. This is a perfect opportunity for those people that want to learn more about autocrossing or high speed track days, but found the events a little intimidating!
You should be able to pre-register through the website (www.bscc.net)
Registration will also be available on the day of the event from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
If you want to find out more, check this guys write up about one of the last events - http://www.team3s.com/~egross/Events...316/index.html
Let me know if you have questions!

Thanks Jeb for posting the info. We got the wife's car fixed. New pilot sports on the back to match the fronts. Also the rear wheel had a pretty healthy crack we got that welded and straightened. So her car is definately ready. Shes pretty excited, and has been trying to recruit a co worker with a Audi A-6 quattro 4.2. Looking forward to parking it in the corners.
sounds pretty fun i might have to come out, what are the rules again, batt tie down? ect??
i kind of want to take out my NA but it leaks oil and smokes alot ?? thats probably against the rules huh?

Hey Jeb you think they will care if we run Victoracers for the novice school? You better show up to the race on Sunday so I can race you in Sports C.

The SA that I used to run leaked oil and coolant like a stab wound, but I never admitted it to anyone.
"Hey what's that dripping from your car?"
"Uhhhh.... I just washed it and it's still a little wet, sooo...."
Then i'd drive off to do another lap. OR you can say it's somebody else's car! But most likely your car will be the most suspicious looking.

Ok, so what do you need to do to set your car up for the drivers school?
Check all the fluids
Check that you have a fair amount of break pad.
Next check your front wheel bearings (you will need minimal slop).
You will need a throttle return spring.
Is your seat bolted down tightly and do you have safety belts?
You battery needs to be firmly mounted (no bailing wire or bungee cords)
Your tires need to be ok, with no cracks or cords showing. Put some extra air in them say 5 psi more than you usually run.
Bring a helmet if you have one (M95 or better). This is not a must, but our loaners are a bit funky.
Ok, that is about it, I look forward to seeing you there!

Phew...you scared me there for a second.
I will be at next summers...I need some track time because I really only feel comfortable driving fast in a straight line...guess that is what you get when you only have ever owned american muscle.

If you haven't raced before this novice school is the best thing for you to go to, you get to practice in a variety of different stuff without competition or strict rules. Its a lot of fun and a good amount of seat time, especially for the money. Highly recommend, hope some of you guys come. I know I am taking my slow little Miata and I will get smoked by everyone but its ok
This is the last time I will be able to be counted as a novice.

well unfortuneately I can't make it in my own heavy modified FB in time but I'm going to bring out my friend and his S5 FC vert. He loves it so I wont tell him its a heavy boat.
Hopefully we can get lots of RX-7 guys to show up, its a blast and lots of track time for the money. Karl Coleman told me to bring the Miata on victoracers so I will be there ready to get smoked by the newbies.

--- very noob question, but how would I check these things? I *should* be fine I am sure, but I am always weary about being disqualified.

Grab each of your wheels and shake them back and forth, if they dont move at all your fine. Push your throttle down at the throttle body and if it springs back your fine. The thing people usually fail on is battery not secured properly and umm thats all I have ever failed someone for. If there is anything you think is unsafe, you should ask one of us experienced guys about it before the event.
voctoracers psshhhhhh :P ive got hoosiers :P hopefully the shipping company gets my car here by then but we shall see eh? I was looking at the BSCCs web site earlier this month and thinking about joining if i can. i have been looking for a decent "non-ricer" car club that actually does races (not street racing :/ tickets are expensive).

I got V710's too but I won't be using them because I feel like being lazy and just driving to the school and race that weekend on race tires instead of fiddling with mounting them when I get there.
how much more fun is this in the rain as opposed to the dry. Oly's been getting back to "normal" weather, so I hear, and i suppose that there is a big chance of wet track!
and a little bump to get this back to the top!
