Need help. speakers pop when switched off '86

When I shut off the ignition or just push the off switch on the radio I get a LOUD pop or crack thru the speakers! I need some tips or ideas on how to get rid of it. Here is what I have

I have an '86 RX-7 factory radio (I like how it looks in the car). I have pulled the rear factory amps out years ago and put in an aftermarket unit. Everything was fine. Yesterday I pulled the front amp out and installed another aftermarket amp (and new speakers) and I am getting a pop out when I shut off the car (in all the speakers) or even if I just push the off switch on the radio.

I unplugged the new amp and wires etc and the pop still happens. Could pulling the factory amp make that happen. I am not using the speaker leads that fed the front amp. I also can not just plug it back in to see if that fixes it as I had to mangle one connector to get it out.

Ideas please? I want to fix it ASAP. I have left the new speakers unhooked so I don't damage them.

OK I worked on it last night and my pop was coming thru the amp turn on lead. I hooked the amp turn on lead to the ignition switch and the pop went away. For now it is working but my question now is....

Can I put a line filter in or a relay to eliminate any noise comming thru the amp turn on lead?
