Question BAC and Idle, help, read Forum Members, now confused!

Still reading and learning, but now I'm lost. Just read thread about BAC and its purpose, and Wayne and Hailers had differences of its function. Thats cool. Just curious now, I never read about disconnecting BAC to adjust idle , or TPS, etc. They guys are great, but now Im reaaly stupid-err. Thought I had idle adjusted correctly, to 850, but didnt disconnect BAC. Help, please. Also, new TPS was going in when I read this. Anything special to know or do, when installing this? Thanks for the help!

The manual has you install a jumper in the Initial Set Coupler to neuter the bac while you fiddle with the idle. Thats done so the bac does not keep trying to make adjustments each time you make an adjustment.

Some find it just as easy to pull the plug off the bac and then do the adjustments and when thru fiddling around, put the bac plug back on.

The bac is on the whole used by the ECU to maintain an idle even it you put a load on the engine by turning the lights, a/c etc on. It is also used during cold starting by maintaining a real, real high idle of approx 3000 rpm for 17 seconds. That's a feature is emissions related to help heat up the catalytic converter faster. It is a touch hard on a cold engine.

I noticed in reading the series five manual, that anytime you go to start the engine, the bac will go to it's full open position while the key is held to START. After you let go from START to just ON it will now go from a full open to doing its normal mode of just maintaining a idle. The bac has a duty cycle around 120hz and opens different amounts depending on the load on the engine.

Uh, keep names out of the subject line.
If you want to contact someone directly, use PM's.
It's actually a forum rule.

This is not stated in the rules seciton. Where would a new guy find this information?

Thread Titles/Subjects

Please, be descriptive in your thread subject. If you post a thread with the subject "help me", it's impossible to tell what is actually in the thread. Not only does this repel those who might be able to help, but it makes searching very difficult.

Instead of posting "big problem! help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" or "idle problems!!!!", try posting "Help: Power Steering Doesn't Work", or "Help: Car Idles at 1500 RPM When Warm".

You will get FAR MORE replies to a thread if you include a good title.
