Help!! Just unflooded my engn, now all the warning lights are on!

Hi,
I have recently aquired 86 GXL, GREAT CAR, then a few days ago ended up flooding it. At first, I didnt know what was wrong with it. Checked fuel and igntion, all was fine. Then I found this site. Found a lot of usefull information, including the EGI fuse unflood method. I tried it, and on the second try it started the engine. I let it smoke for a while and let it idle for 20 or so minutes, then took it for a ride. Drove couple of times around the block and then all of a sudden all the warning lights on the dash went on. Sort of like they do when I am about to start the car. Engine seems to run fine though.. What could have happened? Could the EGI fuse cause it? Thanks ahead for any help!

Hm.. your alternator belt MAY have come off.. all the lights come on when your alternator doesn't spin.

The EGI fuse thing should have nothing to do with it...especially since it ran fine to begin with.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. That belt also drives the water pump so the car overheated and busted the radiator. If yours did't overheat then it may be just the alternator. As soon as your battery drains you will be stranded since it is not being charged.

All the lights are on....

When ever your system doesn't see the alternator working, the lights go on. Another thing might simply be that you disconnected the main wire to the alternator while you were messing around. The one that attaches to the top with a 8mm nut.

Ok... they could be right, it COULD be the alternator belt... however, unflooding by pulling that single fuse can cause the car to go into "limp mode" as well. Remove BOTH fuses closest to the engine, not just the one specified in the procedure. Crank it over once real quick. Replace both fuses in the appropriate spot. It should now work properly.

Question

Damn it! Tried everything.. Alternator seems to be working fine, the voltmeter on dash works fine, and voltage over the battery when the engine's running also checks out. I tried removing the two fuses and cranking the engine too, didn't seem to help. Car runs fine, but all the lights are still on! No idea what might be wrong...
