Hello everyone

I'm currently searching for a s5 FC Turbo II , but Italy isn't a good place to look at...here prices are kinda crazy (6500 euros for a 100k km one ), AND taxes are crazy too (around 700 euros owning tax payment on buy )...

S4 aren't possible alternatives since in italy they weren't imported (we got only s5 Turbo II and very few FDs...not a good country for mazda rotaries italy...) and to get one, I would have to pay around 1500 euros just in taxes and NOT being sure a S4 would pass subsequent (after payments) inspection tests

What I am asking is simple:

Has anyone bought a german car being not german himself?Is such a thing possible at all? how's are the costs if it's possible? The possession tax had to be paid in germany?? has the car to change plate numbers BEFORE leaving germany?
Oh, I'm speaking of buying whithin EU countries.

When u buy TUV compliant car in germany, u can get issued transport licence plates and short term insurance and drive car away.

It should be possible to get it done same day you buy it and should not cost you more than 100 EUR (licence plates + insurance, i think its valid for one month)

This should give you no problem to drive car anywhere in EU.

Be awared that you must be sure about italian law first! Buying a German car and importing it to Belgium is very cheap, as a matter of fact only 100€ over a Belgian car. But the same car will be a really expensive matter when you import it to Greece or Holland. So make sure you know what Italy will charge you!

Rotary emotions is right. You have to check first the Italy laws about importing a car and how things are in the importing tariffs. Here in Greece things are crazy and to import an FD you need to pay to taxes 22000 euros and for an FC even more. So be careful because you can buy a car and don't be able to drive it in your country. As i know in Italy things FD's and FC's are so rare like here and cost tha same money. But i think the most suitable for you if you want to buy a car from another European country especial for an FD where the cost is higher is to import it from UK.

I know you will tell me that you can not import a car ro UK because it is right hand drive bla bla... BUT there are companies in the UK importing for you left hand drive cars from the USA where the cost is wayyy lower that in the EU. Search it a little bit if that way is cheaper for an FC because for an FD is way cheaper than buying one from Germany.

 

Supracharged, not true, is doesn't cost that much-I only paid 4,900euros to register it here in greece(poios eisai?). Travelntrevor you can get temporary plates for a lot longer than 5days, hell you can get them for 5-6months if you want.

About the temporary plates i don't know their use, so i can not comment.

What you say is that you imported your car in Greece the 1996? Or i understood something wrong?

 

Bought an RX in Germany - from a private person (not a company) - paid the man the amount agreed - no taxes (btw/MwSt/VAT) paid in Germany - drove the car with his plates to Belgium (could be that this part was a little bit illegal when you follow the law at the letter) stopped at the Belgian border - did the paperwork @ the "Douane" (took us about 30to45 minutes to fill in + find data all over the papers) and paid 0,05 Euro for the (pink) paper-form (No. 705?) - asked a "friendly" Mazda dealer in Antwerp to make a "gelijkvormigheidsattest" (Belgian car passport) - took him circa 48 hours and us 125,11 Euro - we went to the Technical-Control/TUV (33,50 Euro) - took insurance (big bucks) + licence plate (30 Euro) = and now we're having rotary-fun!

lucky you that you live in a European country.
Because Greece is a 3rd world country in the laws of cars.
We have to pay so much money to import an rx7.... I hope one day we will become European Union citizens with equal rights.

 

Lots of new EU members do have similar problems, Czech Republic have not changed all laws to comply with EU yet as well when it comes to importing cars.
