SE Rotary Meet Summer or Fall 05?

Hey guys... I know y'all had a blast at Deal's Gap this past weekend... and I am SUPER bummed that I missed out... I couldn't miss my Spanish class Friday. Booo.

What do y'all think about having one again at Deals Gap (maybe unofficial?) this fall during the peak times? Just an off the wall idea... I haven't done any research to see what expenses would be like by then... and I have never put one of these together.

I just don't think I can wait for another big rotary event to come a year from now!! Maybe if we meet at the beach or something? Or Charleston? Camping? Let's brainstorm and figure out what people want. I love to travel, and I LOVE my rotary... so let's come together for another awesome event sometime around August-October!

Thanks!
Stina

there is a lot of buzz about it on the deal's gap thread. the way it sounds it is almost inevitable that there will be another run in the fall.

i know if it happens i will be there.

I will SOOO be there if there is a 2nd run in the Fall! Hopefully it will be a good turnout... but if not, I will STILL go, just to support my fellow rotorheads!

I know everyone is wanting to go to the gap again but I will be putting together a big meet together in Atl around the same time. It will kinda be a shootout between 300zx, supras, and 7s. Hopefully a bunch of hte 7 guys will come out to this event to represent for the rotary.

that sounds like a blast too. maybe we could make that the fall event, so as not to wear out the gap. just save the gap for next april.

Goto the main deals gap page.. I'm gauging interest and I'll try to work another one in the fall if enough guys are interested.

If anyone is interested in the Fall or Spring 2006 Deals Gap event, please email me your name, SN (which forum), age, Model year of your car, and any other info to:

DealsGap@gmail.com

I will then start sending out mass email about the future events.

Supras what?

ATL would be a cool Fall event... When are you planning to put that together? We could make that our fall rotary extravaganza.

You're right, tho... let's not wear out Deals Gap.

What about a camping trip? I know the equipment for a full sized 8-adult tent will fit in my FC... hehe.

I like the ATL idea, tho... it will be fun to have a big meet of a mix of beautiful, powerful cars.

I will be organizing this with Jeremy Blackwell(owner of Speedforsale.com) and we should have dates posted within the next month.

Thanks

If you need any help with stuff, let me know... I'd love to help out any way I can! That goes for any of the rest of y'all who need a "partner in crime" to plan an event. I really wanna start rubbing elbows with more fellow rotorheads!

Trust me when I say you don't want to be in the NC.TN mountains when the fall colors are coming out, at least no on a weekend. If you get frustrated having to follow a pickup truck full of underage girls or a train of Harley touring bikes you will not enjoy following the old people in their buicks and motor homes. It will not be the same event in the fall.

Go back before the late September or in early November.

Don't forget we need to begin working on GRR2005 if we want to have one. Christina, if you want some event planning and organizing experience why don't you step up and take on the GRR event for this fall. We also have the Downeast Drive coming up in May.

Christina and I are working on the GRR2.

So you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the event this year, Bert. I wonder if we can break the 30+ rotaries we had last year?

Thanks for stepping up. I am willing to help, I just wasn't going to take on the whole event. We need to coordinate several things.

Shirts, I will still follow thru and get the shirts for last year done but we should have the 2005 shirts ready before the event and hand them out at the event.

Food, someone needs to handle this and plan the menu and decide if it will be catered or cooked by us. Anyone up for BBQ?

Events, I liked the door prizes as a little extra reward for showing up. The drive needs to be well planned and mapped out ahead of time.

Directional signs are nice to have along with driving directions to the GRR site.

I think Capn has made a good start on a group directory so that we can communicate and distribute information more easily but we need to keep this current and get pics and info from all people that show up at an event. Maybe he can be our membership officer and keep that up to date. If we can keep everyone up to speed on what is happening and get more people to show up more often to events we should be able to break 40 cars at this year's GRR. I think we had 33-35 total for last year.

Any other ideas about this year's event. I don't think we should presume that we can go back to Dave's family cabin but plan on going back for future GRRs if he'll have us.

Well, Christina and I were talking and will be trying to plan the event.

I think one of these two locations would be best:
1)Falls Lake/Dam
2)Lake Jordan

The event would be in early August, that way it would be before classes start, and would be hot enough for anyone who wanted to swim or what have you.

Camping would be optional for those who want to stay out afterwards.

That is the only solid stuff for right now. Everyone's opinions are welcome, so please, give some to us.

Perhaps, we can let you handle the shirts this years, since you already have a contact for that.

We will try to take care of the rest.

You do enough for our group, so this year we can take a large part of the load for the GRR event.

I am going to start a separate GRR 2005 thread after I get together with Christina and brainstorm.
