swapped out clutch, now car won't go into gear.

put the clutch in. started her up on jackstands. i got the wheels turning in 1st but it won't go into second or reverse. it feels like it's blocked. when the tranny was on the jack it fell about five inches. could that have fucked it up. it worked before the clutch was changed. should i take her off the jackstands and drive it on the street to see if it will go into gear????? anythoughts. how much is a rebuild and who does them..... is it easy to rebuild? thanks kvn

Will it go into ANY gear if you start it up in neutral and then try?

If not, I bet you put the disk in backwards and it won't fully release now.

Or are you saying it goes from neutral to 1,3,4,5 but not 2 and R?

it goes from n to 1,3,4,5 but not 2 and r. i don't think i put it in backwards. the flat part of the clutch disk goes towards the flywheel correct. kvn

try redoing the release collar. push it all the way back in. then with a srew driver pull slightly then rotate the pressure plate 1/4 turn and do this 4 times. You want to make shure it's pulled out flush on all sides. if it's uneven and not pulled out all the way out on one side then you will have problems going in gear.

Also trying bleeding the clutch more after the other suggestions in this thread if they don't help.
