I am thinking of trying Hawk Blue's for the first time. I have used Carbotech Panther's and liked them. I have heard a lot of good things about the Hawk Blue's. What do you guys use? Also, where is the cheapest place to order them online?

If you don't already know, they stop like not much else, but they leave corrosive dust. It is not fun cleaning up after using them and they aren't for extended street use (I drive up to the track on them only because I only need brakes for a few stops between my place and the track).

 

They are going on my race car, so extended street use won't be a problem. Not sure I am following what you said...what does "they stop like not much else" mean?

 

I'd use Carbotech XP9s, the panthers are considered a street pad by Carbotech.

yeah i lurk over there, dont race a honda but it seems to be the most active racing board around...

 

I’m partial to Pagid, but all three make great pads. It is more or less just brand loyalty for me.

I've been buying all my stuff from www.orgracing.com since I got my car. I'm not quite up to needing Hawk blues though, HPS+ is good enough for me right now

 

Here's a third vote for Carbotech XP1109s. I switched from Blues. Stopping power seems about the same. Better modulation. Easier on rotors. Not sure yet about pad life, but I think it's at least as good as Blues. I also switched to white wheels at the same time, so I don't know if the amount of dust is different. It's annoying, but it comes off reasonably well with glass cleaner.

That said, I'm considering a move to Carbotechs as well. I've heard some good things about them. The Hawk pads arent' using the entire rotor on 1st gens. Theres almost 1/8" at the outer edge that's not getting used.

 

I'll second the cobaltfriction and Andie who helped me out alot. I got Axxis Ultimates on my FD that I autoX and drive daily. More dust for sure, but not a complete mess. stop like now on the course and no squeaks on the street.

ebc is crap, hawk eats rotors and are hard to get up to operating temp even on track with race slicks and are not that all that special. Cobalt is ok, i prefer carbotech over cobalt. But if you wish to cut the crap and have the budject. Contact performance friction. There's a reason almost every winning sports car uses their pads.
